Shipping and Receiving Clerk
WISCO IndustriesThe Shipping & Receiving Clerk (S & R Clerk) performs a wide variety of tasks relating to the shipping, receiving, storage, and inventory functions concerning products and/or materials shipped into or out of the plant one facility. The shipping operation includes interpreting shipping documents and customer specific shipping instructions, completing bill of lading or related documents for shipping and scheduling carrier (freight, UPS, FedEx, etc.) for pick up. The receiving operation includes unloading trucks, identification and labeling of received goods, confirmation of quantities, and in some cases placing them in a storage area. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES S & R Clerk must be able to perform a wide variety of shipping and receiving tasks by using a wide variety of equipment such as computers, scales, stretch wrapper, measuring equipment, overhead cranes, stapler, bander, weigh counting scales and related equipment. S & R Clerk must be able to operate forklifts, pallet jacks and related dock equipment. Clerk must have a general understanding of loading dock techniques involving incoming and outgoing shipment of products, parts, purchase parts and raw materials. S & R Clerk must be able to properly identify a wide variety of customer parts, products, raw materials and purchase parts. S & R Clerk will interact with the material handlers in meeting internal and external customer needs and expectations. S & R Clerk must be able to set priorities and meet established schedules and deadlines. S & R Clerk must be able to prepare parts and/or products for internal and external shipment to customers, vendors and the assembly plant. Must have the ability to meet stringent shipping schedules and deadlines. S & R Clerk must maintain a satisfactory driving record and possess a valid state driver’s license. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS Good analytical skills and attention to detail Must be able to satisfactorily operate company vehicles in order to pick up and transport products, parts and materials to the assembly plant, platers and painters as necessary. Responsible for keeping work spaces clean and orderly. Ability to prioritize, organize and develop recommendations of new work methods to improve efficiency of the Shipping & Receiving Department. Good basic math aptitude. Must have valid state driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record as established by the company and insurance carrier. Should possess experience and knowledge of various gauges such as calipers, micrometers, tape measure and related measuring devices. Should possess knowledge and be able to recognize the different types of metals such as brass, copper, steel and related metals. Possess demonstrated ability to operate forklifts and related equipment. REQUIREMENTS Must be able to twist, bend, reach, climb, stand or sit as job requires. Must be able to frequently lift from 10 to 45 pounds, occasionally lift up to 75 pounds and push or pull carts and/or dollies weighing several hundred pounds. Demonstrated ability to reach to retrieve and place products on shelves, pull and push heavy objects, mount and dismount from forklift on a repeated. Must adhere to safety rules and safe operating procedures when operating equipment, including lock out/tag out procedures. Operator must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for the job. Must be able to effectively interact with other departmental personnel and exchange pertinent information.
