Position Summary: The Shipping and Inventory Technician plays a vital role in the logistics and distribution chain of a licensed cannabis manufacturing facility. This individual is responsible for preparing, packaging, verifying, and coordinating the storage and shipment of cannabis products in compliance with state and local regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and understands the importance of regulatory compliance in a fast-paced, highly regulated industry. Key Responsibilities: Accurately pick, pack, and prepare cannabis products for shipment according to daily distribution schedules. Verify shipping documentation and ensure all products match manifests and internal tracking systems. Ensure all outbound products are labeled correctly and meet packaging standards as required by regulatory bodies (e.g., METRC or BioTrack). Coordinate with Logistics team for timely pickup and delivery of shipments. Maintain detailed records of shipping activities, including inventory movement, chain of custody, and compliance documentation. Perform routine inspections to ensure shipments are secure, undamaged, and stored properly prior to transit. Monitor and report discrepancies in product quantities, quality, or labeling to management. Collaborate with manufacturing, compliance, and inventory control teams to ensure smooth workflow and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with department leads to inventory, purchase, and intake non-cannabis equipment and supplies. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shipping and receiving area. Follow all safety and security protocols as well as standard operating procedures. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; additional logistics or inventory control certifications are a plus. 1+ year of experience in a shipping/receiving or warehouse role; experience in cannabis, pharmaceuticals, or food/beverage manufacturing preferred. Working knowledge of cannabis industry regulations (state-specific, e.g., Illinois DoA / ISP rules) is a strong advantage. Experience using inventory management or seed-to-sale software (e.g., METRC, BioTrack, LeafLogix). Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, shipping software, email). Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow procedures precisely. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a fast-paced production environment. Must be 21+ years of age and eligible to work in a licensed cannabis facility. Must pass any background checks as required by state or local licensing authorities.
