Individuals eligible for pharmacy technician III are competent in all tasks associated with pharmacy technician level I and pharmacy technician level II. Pharmacy technician III staff must achieve and maintain certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. The pharmacy technician III coordinates technician staff and activities and/or is responsible for specific advanced duties (e.g., Automated Dispensing Cabinet, Sterile Preparation QA Specialist, Medication Inspection Specialist and Procurement Specialist). Duties and Responsibilities of this Level Support procurement of medications and supplies for ambulatory infusion pharmacies and clinics across DUHS. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of 340b drug pricing program and ensure all procurement activities are completed in compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Perform purchasing in alignment with formulary compliance, cost savings goals, and departmental initiatives. Set and maintain appropriate inventory levels to support patient care and clinic operations. Monitor and respond to drug and supply shortages in order to mitigate impact on patient care Create strong vendor relationships through professional and effective customer service. Communicate regularly with vendors regarding orders, backorders, product availability, and delivery timelines. Coordinate with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure timely receipt of products. Provide oversight of DSCSA requirements and troubleshoots related issues as they occur. Track inventory across all infusion pharmacies and facilitate inventory transfers to ensure patient care, mitigate shortages, and avoid waste Assist with sourcing of newly onboarded medications, and creation of new purchasing accounts when required. Additional tasks as needed to support daily pharmacy operations to meet patient care needs and/or regulatory demands. Required Qualifications at this Level Education High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program. or Acceptance into pharmacy school. o r High school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or health care related experience. College course work in business/management, position specific advanced coursework, and/or an equivalent combination is preferred. Experience Minimum of two years of pharmacy technician experience is required. Previous procurement/supply chain experience preferred Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification: North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration is required. Pharmacy Technician certification is required from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
