Description: Position Overview The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and improves manufacturing processes for electrical power distribution products, including switchgear, industrial control panels, and related electrical assemblies. This role partners with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to improve safety, manufacturability, quality, cost, and delivery from new product introduction through ongoing production. Key Responsibilities 1. Manufacturing Process Development Develop and maintain efficient manufacturing methods, process flows, work instructions, and standard work. Design and improve assembly, fabrication, wiring, and testing processes for electrical distribution equipment. Evaluate tooling, fixtures, equipment, and workstation layouts to support safe, repeatable production. Support production readiness, capacity planning, and manufacturing process validation. Identify opportunities to reduce cycle time, scrap, rework, and material handling. 2. Production & Technical Support Provide hands-on engineering support to production teams to resolve process and assembly challenges. Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and coordinate corrective actions with Quality and Design Engineering. Review drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and specifications for manufacturing accuracy. Support engineering changes and communicate process impacts to affected teams. Partner with supervisors and operators to improve throughput, consistency, and ergonomics. 3. Documentation & Quality Create and maintain process documentation, assembly instructions, tooling specifications, and production records. Support compliance with company quality management system requirements and applicable customer specifications. Participate in root-cause analysis, corrective action, and prevention of recurring defects. Support first-article builds, inspection planning, and process qualification as needed. Ensure manufacturing changes are documented and controlled appropriately. 4. New Product Introduction & Cross-Functional Coordination Partner with Product Engineering on design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly reviews. Support prototype builds, pilot production, and transfer of new products into manufacturing. Coordinate with Supply Chain on material availability, supplier concerns, and component substitutions. Provide manufacturing input to project schedules, equipment needs, and launch readiness. Collaborate with Quality, Operations, and Engineering to resolve launch and production risks. 5. Continuous Improvement & Team Support Lead or support Lean manufacturing, 5S, waste reduction, and productivity improvement activities. Analyze production metrics, bottlenecks, and recurring defects to prioritize improvements. Support training of operators and supervisors on new or revised manufacturing processes. Promote safe work practices, proper tooling use, and compliance with required PPE and safety procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience with electrical distribution products, switchgear, control panels, or electromechanical assembly required. Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered. Experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or industrial equipment production preferred. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, BOMs, and technical specifications. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, manufacturing routings, and engineering change processes preferred. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, observe safety requirements, and support production activities on the shop floor.
