Warehouse Sorter
lutharaJob Summary You’ll sort incoming parcels by destination, then get them onto the right cart, shelf, or outbound lane. Trucks arrive throughout the day. Most of the work happens on your feet, walking the floor and scanning labels so the system knows where each package ended up. We’re a fast-paced environment when several deliveries land at once, but things usually settle once the dock is cleared and the carts are empty again. Your lead will show you the zones and safety rules on day one, and most people have the layout down within a week. Ask questions. Responsibilities Sorting parcels by label, zone, or carrier. Scanning each item so the system shows where it landed. Load outbound pallets and carts as sorting wraps up. Flagging damaged or missing labels to your lead before the package moves on. Breaking down empty boxes for recycling, which sometimes means a few trips to the compactor. Floor sweeping near your area. Lifting packages up to 40 pounds, with a cart or a coworker for the heavier ones. Qualifications When two similar packages end up in the same cart, you notice the label difference before they get mixed up. Showing up on time for scheduled shifts matters, since the next crew picks up where yours leaves off. You can read English well enough to follow zone signs, labels, and posted safety notices. Keeping your area organized helps you find things faster, and it keeps the aisles clear. If a scanner won’t read a label, you try again or ask for help instead of guessing at the zone. Extra hours often open up on busy weeks, so being able to adjust your schedule is a plus. You stay calm when the dock gets crowded, and you treat coworkers with respect.
