Global Transportation Analyst
Westinghouse Outdoor Power EquipmentPosition Summary The Global Transportation Analyst is responsible for managing and supporting international inbound transportation and domestic outbound transportation, with a strong focus on ocean container management, U.S. import compliance, transportation cost management, and carrier performance. This position serves as a key point of contact for inbound ocean containers, customs clearance, HTS classification, freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and 3PL providers. The role is responsible for tracking international shipments from origin through final delivery, resolving transportation and customs issues, and ensuring imported products move efficiently and in compliance with U.S. Customs requirements. The Global Transportation Analyst will also support domestic outbound transportation, carrier management, freight analysis, RFPs, cost-saving initiatives, and transportation KPI reporting. Responsibilities and Duties Manage and track international inbound and domestic outbound shipments, including ocean containers, truckload, LTL, and other transportation modes. Coordinate inbound international container shipments from factory/origin through ocean transit, port arrival, customs clearance, drayage, warehouse receipt, and final delivery. Monitor container milestones, including booking, vessel departure, transshipment, arrival, customs clearance, port availability, last free day, drayage, and delivery. Work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, ocean carriers, drayage providers, domestic carriers, and 3PL partners. Review and maintain accurate import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other required customs documentation. Maintain and support accurate HTS classification of imported products. Support U.S. customs compliance activities, including HTS classification, country of origin, customs valuation, duties, tariffs, and applicable exclusions or trade programs. Monitor changes in HTS codes, tariffs, duties, and U.S. trade regulations that could impact landed cost or supply continuity. Identify opportunities to reduce freight, duties, tariffs, demurrage, detention, storage, accessorial, and transportation costs while maintaining compliance. Maintain proactive communication regarding shipment status, delays, exceptions, and potential supply disruptions. Manage relationships with international and domestic transportation providers. Support and lead transportation RFPs, carrier negotiations, rate analysis, and carrier selection for inbound and outbound. Analyze freight rates, routing options, and transportation modes to identify the most cost-effective solutions for inbound and outbound. Establish and monitor transportation KPIs, including on-time performance, transit time, freight cost, container dwell time, accessorial charges, and carrier service performance. Develop reporting and analysis around freight spend, landed cost, carrier performance, container activity, and transportation trends. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Strong understanding of international inbound and domestic outbound transportation operations. Hands-on experience managing international ocean containers and U.S. imports. Working knowledge of HTS tariff classification, U.S. Customs requirements, duties, tariffs, country of origin, customs valuation, and import documentation. Experience working directly with customs brokers, freight forwarders, ocean carriers, drayage providers, domestic carriers, and 3PL providers. Understanding of container shipping processes and terminology, including FCL/LCL, port operations, demurrage, detention, free time, drayage, and customs clearance. Experience reviewing commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, customs entries, and related import documentation.
