We are seeking a dependable and skilled Fleet Mechanic to assist with the repair, routine service, and preventative maintenance of delivery and other company vehicles. This position plays an important role in keeping our fleet safe, reliable, and compliant with all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety standards . The ideal candidate has previous experience or training in vehicle, equipment, or fleet maintenance and is comfortable diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, maintaining accurate records, and working both independently and as part of a team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and orderliness of the maintenance shop Perform routine service, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on delivery and sales vehicles Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, including minor tune-ups Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair drivetrain, hydraulic, suspension, steering, and electrical systems Perform road calls safely, efficiently, and professionally when needed Assist other mechanics with troubleshooting and repairs Complete work orders and maintain accurate equipment and maintenance records in accordance with company policies and DOT requirements Inspect, disassemble, repair, replace, fit, and adjust worn or damaged parts Balance wheels and rotate tires according to prescribed mileage intervals Adjust and maintain vehicles and equipment to meet state DOT inspection and safety standards Test-drive repaired vehicles and equipment to verify proper operation Safely operate hoists, wrenches, gauges, drills, grinders, and other specialized mechanic tools and equipment Perform oil and grease services and replace filters as required Maintain accurate parts-usage records and order repair parts from designated suppliers Identify potentially dangerous equipment and promptly notify the Fleet Manager of hazards and corrective actions taken Perform other duties as assigned Physical Demands The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position: Frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of heavy objects Manual dexterity, coordination, and mobility Ability to perform physically demanding mechanical work using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment Work Environment Ability to withstand frequent temperature changes Work may be performed in a maintenance shop, outdoors, and at roadside locations during service calls Must follow all applicable safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment High school diploma Valid driver’s license Safe driving record - no more than 2 violations Sense of urgency about responding to equipment issues and repair needs Previous employment, vocational training, or hands-on experience in equipment repair, automotive repair, fleet maintenance, or a related field Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance and mechanical repair principles Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and perform appropriate repairs Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders Ability to follow company policies, DOT requirements, and applicable safety standards Preferred Skills and Competencies Demonstrate a strong team-player mentality and willingness to assist coworkers Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor Exercise good judgment and make sound decisions Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills with minimal to moderate supervision Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to vehicle safety and preventative maintenance
