Dispatcher

Job Summary Coordinate daily transportation activity to keep freight moving safely, efficiently, and with clear communication. As a Dispatcher, you’ll assign vehicles and drivers, monitor routes, respond to changing priorities, and keep shipment information accurate. You’ll work with drivers, customers, and internal teams to support dependable service across road transportation operations. Your impact: Timely dispatch decisions and accurate updates help drivers stay informed and customers receive clear, reliable shipment coordination. Responsibilities Dispatch vehicles and freight using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems; monitor progress with GPS and, where applicable, geographic information systems (GIS). Manage calls on multi-line phone systems, apply professional phone etiquette, and communicate updates to drivers, customers, and internal teams. Enter and verify dispatch, shipping, and receiving data; maintain records in Microsoft Office tools and systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or AS400. Coordinate transportation planning, fleet management, and logistics activities with supply chain, 3PL (third-party logistics), and shipping and receiving partners. Review schedules and shipment details, resolve service issues, and follow applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Experience Experience in dispatching, transportation management, freight, logistics, or road transportation operations is helpful; related experience is preferred, not required. Strong customer service, phone communication, and internal communication skills, with confidence managing calls and changing priorities. Organizational and analysis skills, accurate typing, and careful data entry. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, GPS, GIS, transportation management systems, vehicle dispatch software, Oracle Transportation Management, or AS400 is an asset. Knowledge of DOT regulations, supply chain, transportation planning, fleet management, 3PL, and shipping and receiving is beneficial.
