Role Summary The Country Store Clerk is responsible for providing excellent customer service while efficiently supporting daily retail operations. This role includes processing sales transactions, maintaining product displays, stocking merchandise, and ensuring the store remains clean, organized, and welcoming. The clerk serves as a brand ambassador by delivering positive and friendly customer experience. Key Responsibilities Greet customers in a courteous and professional manner and provide assistance as needed. Operate point‑of‑sale (POS) systems accurately, including cash handling and credit/debit transactions. Stock shelves, rotate merchandise, and assist with inventory management. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, storage areas, and checkout stations. Monitor product quality and report damaged or expired items. Follow company policies, safety procedures, and food‑handling guidelines (if applicable). Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Clear verbal communication skills. Basic math skills and ability to handle transactions accurately. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Dependability and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Basic computer skills, including use of POS systems and Microsoft Office applications. Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous retail, customer service, or cashier experience is preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required. Physical Requirements Standing and Walking: Requires extended periods of standing and frequent walking throughout the shift. Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers for handling merchandise, operating registers, and stocking items. Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 30 pounds on a regular basis. Reaching and Bending: Frequent reaching, bending, and stooping to stock shelves and retrieve products. Visual Acuity: Ability to see clearly at close range for operating registers and handling small objects, and at a distance to monitor the sales floor. Hearing and Speaking: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers and to hear auditory cues such as customer requests or alarms. Work Environment Primarily works in an indoor retail environment with exposure to varying temperatures near entrances or refrigerated areas. May occasionally be exposed to moderate noise levels typical of a retail setting. Work involves interaction with the public and coworkers throughout the shift.
