Description of Job The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC), Finance and Administration, Fleet Services ensures adherence to State Fiscal and State Fleet Management rules and regulations. The unit provides fleet management to assure a safe and reliable fleet and deliver statewide coordination of the fleet by managing the departments vehicles and trailers. This position manages the coordination, promotion and implementation of the CDOC fleet program for the East Canon City Prison Complex. Primary job duties include, but are not limited to: Serve as the Fleet Services Shop Foreman for the East Canon City Complex (ECC) by directing and prioritizing all daily operations of the main shop floor and wash bay; Collaborate closely with the Fleet Operations Manager to strategically forecast, monitor, and effectively manage the East Canon Prison Complex Maintenance Facility's operational budget, ensuring financial resources are optimally allocated to support day-to-day shop functions, training programs, and ongoing fleet initiatives; Coordinating and assisting with emergency vehicle responses for the complex, ensuring rapid deployment and operational continuity; Research new technologies, automated systems, and opportunities to align with the new industry standards in the automotive industry of reduction in carbon emission initiatives by managing bulk liquid distribution systems and maximizing electric vehicle charging infrastructure; Provide guidance and advice to CDOC staff regarding utilization and efficient operations related to electric vehicles to include proper scheduling, routing, and charging procedures; Collaboration with the grant specialist and the Operations Manager to identify, fund, and source necessary tools, equipment, and educational training materials; Primary operational liaison for ECC vehicle coordinators, providing expert technical guidance and swiftly resolving complex fleet related issues to ensure seamless facility transportation; Serve as the primary project liaison for specialized fabrication jobs, seamlessly coordinating complex work requests that may include fulfilling customized projects for external agencies; Analyze the impact of potential legislation involving climate goals, green energy, etc. and provide recommendations and cost analyses of CDOC impact; Oversee implementation of fleet vehicle processes, including proper vehicle commissioning and decommissioning, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, accident repairs and replacement vehicles; Make recommendations to the fleet manager…
