Bella TalentsCoffee Roaster Lead Location: El Segundo, CA Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour Work Location: In person Position Overview A growing hospitality and coffee operation in El Segundo, CA is seeking an experienced Coffee Roaster Lead to oversee day-to-day coffee roasting, production, inventory, and distribution operations. This position will be responsible for ensuring multiple locations maintain an adequate and consistent supply of freshly roasted coffee while upholding high standards for quality, consistency, organization, food safety, inventory control, and equipment care . The ideal candidate will have hands-on coffee roasting or production experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage production priorities while working closely with store leadership and management. Key Responsibilities Roast coffee according to established roast profiles, recipes, quality standards, and production schedules. Safely operate and maintain coffee roasting equipment. Monitor roast times, temperatures, airflow, batch sizes, and other roasting variables to ensure consistency. Properly cool, package, label, date, and store roasted coffee. Maintain accurate roasting, production, inventory, and delivery records. Monitor green coffee, roasted coffee, packaging materials, labels, and other roasting supplies. Maintain appropriate inventory and par levels based on sales trends and operational needs. Anticipate production requirements to prevent shortages, overproduction, and unnecessary waste. Develop and maintain roasting schedules based on projected demand across multiple locations. Prepare and verify coffee orders for each location. Coordinate and complete local coffee deliveries as needed. Evaluate roasted coffee for appearance, aroma, flavor, and overall quality. Participate in coffee cupping and quality evaluations when required. Identify roasting inconsistencies and make appropriate adjustments within established guidelines. Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary roasting, packaging, storage, and delivery areas. Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns. Provide training and guidance to team members assisting with roasting, packaging, inventory, or deliveries. Communicate production concerns, inventory shortages, equipment issues, and operational needs to management. Qualifications Previous coffee roasting experience preferred . Experience in coffee production, food production, inventory management, warehouse operations, or a similar environment preferred. Knowledge of coffee roasting processes, roast profiles, and roasting equipment. Experience with specialty coffee and quality evaluation preferred. Previous lead or supervisory experience is a plus. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and consistency. Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills. Ability to forecast production needs based on inventory levels and projected demand. Basic math skills related to inventory, measurements, weights, and production. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with leadership. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Driving Requirements Local travel between locations may be required. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license if driving is required as part of the position and maintain an acceptable driving record.
