Job Overview VM West, LLC is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious CDL Driver to support vegetation management operations throughout the New Mexico Region. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of commercial vehicles, including dump trucks, storm trucks, and chip trucks, to transport equipment, materials, wood chips, debris, and other vegetation-related materials to and from assigned job sites. The ideal candidate will have experience operating commercial trucks in challenging terrain and field environments, demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and DOT compliance, and be willing to assist field crews with operational activities as needed. Key Responsibilities Safely operate commercial vehicles, including dump trucks, storm trucks, chip trucks, and other assigned company vehicles. Transport wood chips, brush, logs, debris, aggregate, equipment, and other materials to and from designated job sites and disposal locations. Operate dump truck beds, hydraulic systems, and other truck-mounted equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company safety procedures. Coordinate with field supervisors and crew members to ensure timely transportation and disposal of materials. Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report mechanical defects, damage, or safety concerns. Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies. Ensure vehicles are operated within applicable weight limits and that loads are properly secured and transported safely. Follow all applicable federal and state DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies. Safely navigate rural roads, mountain terrain, unimproved roads, and other challenging driving conditions common to vegetation management operations. Participate in required safety meetings, training sessions, and operational briefings. Communicate effectively with supervisors, field crews, dispatch personnel, and other company representatives. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) of the appropriate class for assigned vehicles. Acceptable driving record that meets company and insurance requirements. Knowledge of applicable DOT regulations, commercial vehicle inspection requirements, and safe driving practices. Ability to safely operate commercial trucks and associated hydraulic or truck-mounted equipment. Ability to perform required vehicle inspections and identify mechanical or safety concerns. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a field-based environment. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions. Willingness to travel to assigned job sites throughout the New Mexico Region and other locations as operationally required. Ability to meet applicable DOT driver qualification and medical certification requirements. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience operating dump trucks, chip trucks, storm trucks, or similar commercial vehicles. Experience supporting forestry, vegetation management, utility right-of-way clearing, construction, or related field operations. Experience operating commercial vehicles on rural, mountainous, or unimproved roads. Familiarity with hydraulic dump systems, chip collection equipment, and commercial vehicle maintenance practices.
