Position Overview The Category Manager has Supply Management (SM) experience with skills required to find, engage, compete, and contract with service providers to meet a variety of demands. The Category Manager will have significant experience in supply management or business office roles, demonstrating expertise, the ability to manage suppliers, business clients, internal partners, and activities independently. Responsibilities The Category Manager will have a variety of accountabilities and responsibilities, some of which will be achieved through influence. Examples include: Work with the Sr. Director and Director of Strategic Procurement to ensure demands and priorities are synchronized with expectations of business clients and Supply Management leadership. Be responsible for a portfolio of assigned suppliers to include associated agreements, renewals, and third-party risk management activities. Manage a portfolio of assigned clients to understand procurement demands and timelines, develop relationships, and influence procurement strategies. Lead, develop and implement category strategies to manage the assigned portfolios, control costs, and ensure continuity of supply. Lead negotiation of supplier agreements and renewals in collaboration with internal partners from Office of the General Counsel, Risk Management, and business clients. Work with clients and suppliers to negotiate statements of work and ordering documents, adding value to support positive outcomes for project investments. Assess, identify, and mitigate third-party agreement risk in collaboration with internal partners from the Office of the General Counsel, Risk Management, Risk and Compliance (GRC), and Information Security. Know and participate in Supply Management processes, to include Supplier Onboarding (SOBRA), Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB), Risk Council, and P&L Improvement. Perform the business of Strategic Procurement, communicating with leaders, contributing to team performance, emphasizing P&L improvement, and supporting diversity goals. Required Skillsets Appearance on video is required by Microsoft Teams and similar means on a daily and frequent basis for meetings. A professional workspace is required to be maintained in the work-from-home setting. Eastern time business hours and workday alignment is required for this position due to business client availability. Bachelor’s degree in related disciplines such as Finance, Supply Management, or Economics. 7+ years of professional experience, to include Supply Management, Procurement, or Business Office roles responsible for supplier or category management. Strong working knowledge of the marketplace, terminology and industry norms. Demonstrable experience with agreements and statements of work. Adept negotiation skills in pay for performance and shared risk allocation in agreements. Strong problem-solving, collaboration and influence skills. Ability to lead cross-functional business meetings, develop and deliver clear presentations and communicate with stakeholders. Solid business acumen coupled with understanding of business structures, processes, and information flow in an organization with multiple lines of business. Experience with Coupa procure-to-pay. Experience with large non-profits, humanitarian services, or biomedical industries.
