The Asset Inventory Technician supports accurate identification, tracking, and control of BOP equipment, components, tools, and related inventory. This hourly, nonexempt role performs hands-on asset verification; scans and logs equipment; applies and replaces barcode or RFID tags; updates asset records; and helps reconcile physical inventory to system data across shops, yards, warehouses, and field locations. Working under the direction of the Assets Field Coordinator – BOP, the technician follows established tagging, data-entry, custody, transfer, and documentation procedures; identifies discrepancies or damaged identifiers; and coordinates with operations, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and finance to maintain reliable asset records. The position requires frequent movement through industrial work areas, careful attention to detail, and consistent compliance with safety and data-quality requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Travel to assigned shops, yards, warehouses, and field locations to locate and physically verify BOP equipment, components, tools, and related assets. Scan existing barcodes or RFID tags and accurately record asset identifiers, serial numbers, descriptions, locations, status, custody, and other required information in the asset-management system. Print, program, apply, and replace barcode or RFID tags using approved placement, attachment, and labeling standards suitable for industrial equipment. Confirm that each tag is readable, securely attached, correctly associated with the asset record, and positioned without covering required markings, safety information, or certification data. Create and update asset records from approved source documents, including purchase, receipt, transfer, inspection, maintenance, certification, and disposal information. Perform cycle counts, wall-to-wall inventories, spot checks, and asset audits; compare physical findings with system records and document variances. Research duplicate, missing, damaged, unreadable, or unassigned tags and escalate unresolved discrepancies for review and correction. Document asset movements, transfers, check-in/check-out activity, storage locations, and changes in custody in accordance with established procedures. Verify readily observable asset information and condition; report damaged equipment, missing nameplates, overdue inspection or certification indicators, and other exceptions without performing technical inspection or certification work unless separately qualified and assigned. Maintain organized electronic and paper records, photographs, count sheets, exception logs, and supporting documentation needed for traceability and audit readiness. Use handheld scanners, mobile devices, label printers, computers, and related software; protect assigned equipment and report malfunctions or supply needs. Coordinate with operations, maintenance, quality, supply chain, finance, and field personnel to obtain information, gain safe access to assets, and resolve routine record discrepancies. Follow company requirements for data accuracy, document control, asset handling, housekeeping, security, and protection of company property. Comply with all safety, quality, environmental, and site-specific requirements, including stop-work expectations and required personal protective equipment. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) High school diploma or GED required; technical, inventory-control, maintenance, logistics, or related training is preferred. One or more years of experience in inventory control, asset tracking, warehousing, equipment operations, maintenance support, or a related industrial environment is preferred.
