You are the gatekeeper for every truck in and out — receiving incoming material, staging and loading our own delivery trucks for jobsite delivery, and keeping inventory accurate and organized across a large yard. Because the yard is big and the crew is small (you will direct 1–2 yard workers and often work independently), we need a self-starter who runs the operation without someone looking over their shoulder. Core Responsibilities Logistics & material handling: Unload incoming freight and load Century’s own delivery trucks for jobsite delivery using a rough-terrain forklift and pallet jacks. Receiving & documentation: Receive against Bills of Lading and packing slips; document shortages or damage immediately (photos + report) and flag issues to purchasing — don't let it slide. Order staging by job: Pull and stage material by job number / work order so delivery trucks can be loaded and dispatched to the jobsite without waiting on missing parts. Yard layout & organization: Keep the yard logically laid out — high-turnover stock near loading, bulk material staged back — and keep it clean and orderly. Inventory control: Run routine counts, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain accurate stock levels; keep the purchasing team ahead of shortages. Will-call pickups: Handle occasional will-call customer pickups at the yard — verify the order, load it out, and complete the paperwork. Team leadership & independent execution: Direct the daily tasks of 1–2 yard workers while carrying your own workload independently and keeping the facility secure. Safety & maintenance: Enforce safety protocols across the entire yard (PPE, safe lifting, check-ins), perform daily pre-shift forklift inspections, and keep equipment and the yard clear of hazards. Qualifications Experience: 3+ years in yard management, shipping/receiving, or heavy construction logistics. Equipment: Forklift certified (or able to certify) and proficient on outdoor / rough-terrain forklifts and pallet jacks. Physical: Able to lift 50–80 lbs repeatedly and work outdoors in all conditions (heat, rain, snow); comfortable with early-morning starts and seasonal overtime. Attributes: Works independently with minimal supervision; strong spatial organization, safety discipline, and direct communication with suppliers, drivers, sales, and field crews. Basics: Valid driver's license (CDL a plus); basic computer / email skills for pick tickets, BOLs, and inventory records. Ability to pass a pre - employment drug screen. Fencing product knowledge — able to read a material takeoff and tell chain link, ornamental, wood, and vinyl components apart (SS40 vs SS20, wire gauges, etc.). Inventory software experience — or willingness to grow into our system (Vista – Viewpoint). Ready to Join Us?
