Job Summary: Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the Water and Wastewater Courier will be responsible for the timely pick-up and delivery of water, wastewater, soil, and sludge samples to and from the laboratory. This role ensures compliance with laboratory quality, hold-time, and turnaround-time objectives. Key responsibilities include preparing and delivering sample bottle orders per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and/or client samples, assisting with receiving and stocking sample control supplies, shipping sample kits, and assisting with field sampling events as needed. The Courier is also responsible for vehicle maintenance tracking and executing additional duties assigned by department management. Essential duties and responsibilities: Count samples against the Chain of Custody (COC) to ensure accurate matching; verify that samples are unbroken and undamaged. Receive, verify, sign, and date the COC. Ensure clients sign, date, and record time on the COC upon releasing samples. Transport samples on ice from client sites to the lab or to subcontracted laboratories. Inspect samples upon unloading for damage or violated hold times. Follow directions or maps to locate client offices and field sites as specified in courier request forms. Record arrival and departure times in the courier logbook for all site visits, pick-ups, and deliveries. Verify the validity and completeness of all client bottle orders before departing for delivery. Maintain the delivery vehicle in proper working order, comply with all company driver policies, and record maintenance logs and monthly driving mileage. Receive, restock, and maintain sample control supplies so they are readily available to lab staff. Ship sample kits as required. Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with clients, Project Managers, and lab staff. Communicate effectively with the Operations Manager regarding schedules, delays, or route adjustments. Execute all tasks strictly in accordance with company SOPs, hazardous waste disposal guidelines, and additional duties assigned by management. Maintain flawless Chain of Custody (COC) records and ensure all samples are properly iced, undamaged, and delivered strictly within required hold times. Consistently meet pick-up/delivery schedules and immediately alert management to any route delays or site access issues. Keep fleet vehicles clean, maintained, and logged on time each month, while keeping sample supplies stocked and organized. Adhere strictly to company driver policies, safety SOPs, and PPE guidelines while providing professional, polite customer service to clients. Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational objectives. Pay: From $10.00 per hour Work Location: In person
