Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the complete operations of The Party Store’s warehouses, including direct supervision of all warehouse staff and crew leads. This includes but is not limited to the following: coordinating with dispatch to assign work to employees, ensuring that deliveries and customer pickups are picked and prepared, supervising assigned employees to ensure that they stay on task and productive, holding daily toolbox meetings, and other duties as assigned. The Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for identifying, planning, and executing projects as needed. This position will ensure that all Party Store warehouses follow appropriate processes and procedures, and this position will be required to institute processes and procedures where necessary. This position will be required to track and execute necessary maintenance and repairs for the company’s truck fleet and the company’s internal-use equipment and machinery. This role will be required to forecast business needs to inform hiring, determine necessary hiring numbers for seasonal hires, interview and train candidates and new hires, and other matters related to recruiting and hiring. This role will be required to coach, guide, and discipline warehouse employees as necessary.

Job Duties

  • Oversee all warehouse work, ensuring that tasks are assigned properly and that the warehouse staff remains productive.

  • Hold daily toolbox meetings with staff, breaking down work assignments and expectations for the day.

  • Facilitate large or complex setups by being present on site, coordinating work crews and overseeing the completion large and complex jobs.

  • Coordinate with dispatch to ensure that upcoming deliveries, customer pickups, and setups are picked, prepared, and staged properly.

  • Receive paperwork from warehouse and driver staff, auditing it for completion and accuracy.

  • Monitor truck fleet for necessary maintenance and repairs, coordinating both as necessary and maintaining a system of organization for routine truck maintenance.

  • Facilitate equipment repairs. Equipment repair must be tracked and documented through work orders, and repairs may require sourcing parts or working with external vendors.

  • Ensure that warehouse is adequately staffed, requesting job postings as necessary and forecasting required staff levels for busy seasons.

  • Interview potential candidates and make final decisions on potential hires.

  • Assign work to warehouse staff and monitor staff for quality and productivity.  

  • Operate forklifts to retrieve and store inventory.

  • Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements in warehouses and on site.

  • Train new crew members on routine tasks, warehouse operations, processes, and procedures.

  • Train, coach, and discipline staff as necessary.

  • Ensure that all warehouse workers are adhering to all processes and procedures.  

  • Complete projects as assigned, including recommending and implementing new processes, organizing warehouse inventory for easy storage and retrieval, improving communication structures between the warehouse and other Party Store staff, and other initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned, including loading and unloading trucks, general warehouse work, completing deliveries, and other projects and duties as assigned.

  • Work as a part of a larger crew as necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

  • Strong leadership and delegation skills.

  • Ability to complete physical or laborious work.

  • Effectiveness in the areas of worksite safety and productivity.

  • Strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment.

  • Sound judgement and reasoning.

  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.

  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Able to work well under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.

  • Able to lead and direct other employees while maintaining a professional demeanour.

  • First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.

Work Conditions

  • Physical ability to lift up to 75lbs.

  • Travel to the site, and off-site locations will be required.

  • Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.

  • Overtime as required.

  • Hazards associated with the work.

  • Work both indoors and outdoors.

  • Working in heat and cold while outside will be required.
