Warehouse Manager in Training

Position Summary Affordable Medical Supplies is seeking a mechanically inclined, organized, and resourceful individual to develop into the leader of our equipment and warehouse department. This is a hands-on training position. The employee will work directly with medical equipment while learning to coordinate inventory, repairs, equipment readiness, warehouse organization, and daily workflow. We are willing to train someone who has the right aptitude, work ethic, and problem-solving ability. DME experience is helpful but not required. This position is designed for someone who wants to grow beyond an individual contributor role and eventually take responsibility for running a department. Responsibilities Equipment & Repair Operations Inspect, clean, test, maintain, and perform authorized repairs on rental and other company equipment. Troubleshoot equipment problems and determine appropriate next steps. Coordinate equipment repairs, identify parts needs, and track unresolved issues. Ensure equipment is properly inspected, documented, and ready before being returned to service. Learn manufacturer procedures and company standards for equipment maintenance and sanitization. Inventory & Warehouse Management Maintain organized warehouse storage, equipment staging, and overstock areas. Track equipment that is available, rented, returned, awaiting repair, or otherwise unavailable. Assist with inventory counts and investigate discrepancies. Receive incoming equipment and supplies and verify items against documentation. Identify low-stock items, needed repair parts, and equipment requiring replenishment. Learn purchasing and ordering procedures and approval requirements. Daily Workflow Learn to prioritize equipment preparation, repairs, pickups, and delivery requirements. Coordinate with drivers and office staff to ensure equipment is available when needed. Help identify scheduling conflicts, delays, and recurring workflow problems. Maintain accurate records and communicate outstanding issues to management. Learn to organize daily work based on urgency, customer commitments, and equipment availability. Process Improvement Identify inefficiencies in warehouse organization, repairs, and equipment tracking. Help develop and document standard operating procedures. Recommend practical solutions to recurring problems. Learn the department's performance measures and how to monitor them. Customer & Field Support Assist with equipment deliveries, installations, pickups, and customer education when needed. Communicate professionally with customers and internal departments. Support repair events and other operational activities. Qualifications Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment repair. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while communicating when assistance is needed. Good judgment, attention to detail, and follow-through. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 50 pounds independently, with assistance for heavier items. Willingness to learn DME procedures, company systems, and compliance requirements. Previous experience in equipment repair, automotive work, maintenance, construction, facilities, inventory, logistics, or warehouse operations is helpful. DME experience is preferred but not required. What Success Looks Like The employee is learning to manage the department rather than simply complete assigned tasks. They can identify problems, establish priorities, maintain accurate records, and consistently prepare equipment for use. Growth Opportunity Successful completion of the training stage may lead to promotion to Warehouse Manager. Promotion requires demonstrated ability to manage the department's daily workflow, maintain inventory and equipment controls, and work independently.
