Warehouse Manager

Position Overview The Operations Manager leads improvements in inventory accuracy, refrigerated trailer and storage van fuel usage, sanitation, and operational procedures at the Burlington facility. This role manages the inventory control team, strengthens coordination across departments, and partners with supervisors, foremen, and Human Resources to develop employee capabilities and improve operational consistency. Key Responsibilities: Warehouse Operations & Leadership Oversee receiving, storage, order selection, staging, and shipping to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules. Plan staffing, assign responsibilities, and adjust workflow based on volume and operational priorities. Lead supervisors, foremen, and warehouse employees through clear expectations, coaching, and performance feedback. Coordinate with Procurement, Sales, Transportation, and Quality teams to resolve operational issues and maintain product flow. Address performance concerns in accordance with company policies and any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Safety, Quality & Facility Standards Enforce workplace safety procedures, required protective equipment, and safe material-handling practices. Maintain proper product handling, storage temperatures, sanitation, and cold-chain practices. Coordinate cleaning, waste removal, and vendor services to maintain safe, orderly work areas. Report and address equipment concerns, facility hazards, and operational incidents with the appropriate teams. Cost Control & Process Improvement Monitor labor utilization, overtime, fuel consumption, sanitation costs, and other operating expenses. Coordinate refrigerated trailer and storage van placement, movement, and refueling to support efficiency and product quality. Review vendor invoices and service performance, resolve discrepancies, and recommend cost-saving measures. Develop and maintain standard operating procedures; investigate recurring issues and implement corrective actions. Track productivity, order accuracy, turnaround times, and service performance, reporting results and recommendations to leadership. Training & Development Train supervisors and foremen on warehouse procedures and monitor consistent execution. Partner with Human Resources to support onboarding, mentorship, and ongoing employee development. Maintain training records and identify opportunities to strengthen employee skills. Perform other related duties consistent with the position. Qualifications & Requirements Five or more years of warehouse or distribution operations experience, including supervising employees. Experience in fresh produce, food distribution, or another perishable-product environment preferred. Knowledge of receiving, order fulfillment, shipping, staffing, and operational cost controls. Familiarity with warehouse safety, food safety, sanitation, and temperature-controlled storage. Experience developing procedures, training employees, and managing team performance. Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to changing operational demands. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with WMS, Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required to communicate effectively with warehouse employees, provide training, and convey safety instructions.
