Role Purpose We are seeking an accomplished Logistics Manager to lead the strategic modernization of our 30,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Medicine Hat, AB . This is a high-impact role for a leader who thrives on complexity and optimization. You will be responsible for transforming our existing processes, layout and technology upgrades into a highly efficient operation based on continuous improvement initiatives with your team. Success will be measured by maintaining daily flow (inventory integrity, timely shipping) along with your proven ability to implement process change, manage labor effectively, and define the blueprint for our next generation of logistics excellence for existing stores and franchise expansion. Key Responsibilities 1. Receiving & Shipping Operations: Oversee daily receiving and shipping workflows to ensure accurate, timely, and damage-free movement of goods Create and maintain SOPs for receiving, put-away, picking, packing, staging, loading, and outbound shipping Ensure proper documentation, labeling, and routing of all inbound and outbound freight Coordinate scheduling of deliveries, pickups, and carrier appointments 2. Inventory Management & Accuracy: Maintain accurate inventory levels through structured cycle counts, reconciliation processes, and root-cause analysis of variances Manage seasonal inventory increases (up to 30% in fall), including space planning, labour planning, and optimized slotting Oversee replenishment, product rotation, and obsolete/damaged inventory procedures Use data and reporting tools to monitor trends, slow movers, high-velocity items, and shrink Manage the inventory data system and ensure accurate real-time data entry Create and monitor KPIs: inventory accuracy, order lead time, on-time shipping, dock-to-stock time, labour cost per case, etc Support new store openings, seasonal builds, and new product launches through forecasting and logistics planning 3. Invoice, Freight & Cost Management: Manage all logistics-related invoices, freight bills, and vendor documentation for accuracy and timely approval Negotiate freight rates with carriers and third-party logistics providers to drive cost efficiency Monitor transportation spend, fuel surcharges, courier services, and lane performance Maintain KPI dashboards that track freight costs, productivity, fill rates, and accuracy metrics 4. Team Leadership & Labour Optimization: Lead a warehouse team including receivers, pickers, shippers, cycle counters, and inventory coordinators Build weekly labour plans that align staffing levels with workload, seasonal volumes, and productivity targets Train and coach staff in safety, equipment use, SOP compliance, and continuous improvement practices Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence Work closely with Procurement, Finance, Category Management, Franchise Operations, and Vendors 5. Warehouse Operations, Safety & Facility Management: Oversee the full operation of a 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse, ensuring cleanliness, organization, proper layout, and safe operations Manage equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, racking, scanners) including maintenance schedules and certifications Ensure full compliance with safety standards, WHMIS, and provincial health & safety requirements Implement continuous improvement initiatives (LEAN, 5S, flow optimization, slotting logic) Maintain emergency plans (fire, power outage, hazardous product handling) Plan redundancy for peak periods, labour shortages, and supply chain disruptions Qualifications: 5+ years in logistics, warehouse management, or distribution leadership Strong inventory management experie…
