General Summary The Warehouse Lead directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the warehouse team, ensuring the accurate and timely receipt, storage, and shipment of materials, tools, equipment, and supplies in support of Thorpe's field, shop, and project operations. This role provides hands-on leadership and training to warehouse associates, monitors inventory accuracy, and helps maintain a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse and yard, while performing warehouse duties alongside the team as needed. Role and Responsibilities Assign, direct, and prioritize the daily work of warehouse associates, including receiving, picking/packing, shipping, and yard tasks Train, mentor, and onboard new and existing warehouse associates on procedures, safety practices, and equipment operation Oversee receipt, inspection, and verification of incoming shipments of materials, tools, equipment, and supplies against packing slips and purchase orders Coordinate picking, packing, and staging of materials for shipment to job sites, shops, or other company locations, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy using the company's inventory/ERP system, including leading cycle counts and periodic physical inventories Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, and shipping/receiving issues, escalating to the Warehouse Supervisor as needed Ensure proper organization, labeling, and storage of materials, and enforce good housekeeping practices throughout the warehouse and yard Operate and train others on warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck) safely and in accordance with company policy and manufacturer guidelines Monitor team compliance with safety policies and procedures, and reinforce proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Assist the Warehouse Supervisor with scheduling, timekeeping, and covering shifts to ensure adequate warehouse coverage Perform other warehouse, yard, or shop duties as assigned Qualifications and Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required 2-3 years of warehouse experience required, including prior experience leading, training, or directing the work of others Forklift certification required, or ability to obtain certification within a designated period after hire Working knowledge of inventory or ERP systems (e.g., UKG, SAP, or similar), with basic computer and data entry skills Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate a team in a fast-paced warehouse environment Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly with warehouse staff, supervisors, and other departments Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime or shift schedules, as business needs require Valid driver's license may be required for certain locations Physical Requirements The physical demands described below are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this role.
