Job Description Assists with all activities of the warehouse, including shipping & receiving products and insuring compliance with the safety, quality, and housekeeping standards of the Sealy facility. This position requires both data entry and physical material handling responsibilities. Work is performed under the general direction of the Plant Manager. Analyze materials required against inbound shipments; communicate shortfalls to supervisor. Perform day-to-day activities of shipping and receiving to achieve On-Time-Shipping goals. Organize tasks for optimum efficiency; assist in solving problems. Prepare and maintain records, reports and files including daily shipping/receiving logs, labor summaries, cycle counts, etc. Pull finished product from inventory, assemble orders, and prepare shipment in accordance with company policy and customer requests. May select, pack, and wrap products to be shipped. Receive inbound material including finished product from other locations, raw materials, operating supplies and equipment and transfers to appropriate storage locations. Operate forklift to load and unload trucks and transport materials between departments and buildings. Count and examine raw materials, supplies, finished product, etc. to verify completeness against appropriate documents; checks for damaged materials; maintains records of shortages, damages, and other exceptions. Match material against bills of lading, advise supervisor of discrepancies. Maintains work location in excellent condition to comply with company policies for safety and housekeeping. Prepare records of shipment and bills of lading; verify that bills of lading match picked orders. Assist with follow-up responses to Customer Service, Sale, and other company personnel regarding product availability, shipment status, etc. Assist with coordinating LTL and dedicated carriers for transfer orders and customer orders. Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED certificate required. 1 to 2 years of experience in general warehouse, shipping, receiving, distribution, or inventory control Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, especially with clerical responsibilities, is a plus. Experience in forklift operation is required. Special Requirements/Competencies: Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Must have working knowledge of PC systems and applications; SAP experience a strong plus. Proficiency in data entry; attention to detail; effective organization skills. Must be flexible to work any shift and overtime, as necessary.
