Warehouse Associate – Retail Store

Position Summary The Warehouse Associate plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of the retail store. This position is responsible for safely receiving, handling, moving, organizing, and loading furniture and merchandise. Warehouse Associates work primarily in the back warehouse area but will also regularly assist on the showroom floor and interact directly with customers during merchandise pickups. This position requires someone who is dependable, safety-focused, physically capable of handling large and heavy furniture, and committed to providing excellent customer service. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesReceiving & Warehouse Operations Safely unload furniture and merchandise from incoming delivery trucks. Load furniture and merchandise onto trucks as needed. Inspect incoming merchandise for visible damage and report concerns to management. Move merchandise to the appropriate warehouse, storage, customer pickup, or showroom location. Keep furniture and merchandise properly organized and stored to prevent damage. Assist with inventory movement and merchandise transfers as directed. Safely operate carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other approved furniture-moving equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and loading area. Remove and properly dispose of cardboard, plastic, packing materials, and other debris. Keep warehouse aisles, exits, loading areas, and workspaces clear and accessible. Showroom Support Move furniture and merchandise throughout the showroom as directed by management. Assist with showroom resets, floor moves, and merchandise placement. Move sold merchandise from the showroom to the appropriate customer pickup or staging area. Assist with moving new merchandise from the warehouse onto the showroom floor. Handle furniture carefully to prevent damage to merchandise, walls, floors, doors, fixtures, and other store property. Assist Sales Associates, Sales Support, and management with moving heavy or oversized merchandise when needed. Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional-looking showroom. Customer Pickup & Load-Out Assist customers arriving at the store to pick up purchased merchandise. Locate and verify the correct merchandise before releasing it to the customer. Move merchandise from the warehouse, staging area, or showroom to the customer's vehicle. Safely assist with loading furniture and merchandise into customer vehicles. Use proper lifting, carrying, and furniture-handling techniques during customer load-outs. Treat customers and their property with care and respect. Provide friendly, professional, and helpful customer service throughout the pickup process. Immediately communicate damaged merchandise, missing items, pickup discrepancies, or customer concerns to management. Safety Responsibilities Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Use proper lifting and furniture-handling techniques at all times. Ask for team assistance or use appropriate equipment when an item cannot be safely moved individually. Properly use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other approved warehouse equipment. Maintain awareness of customers and coworkers when moving large furniture through the warehouse or showroom. Keep emergency exits, walkways, loading areas, and safety equipment clear. Immediately report workplace injuries, accidents, damaged equipment, merchandise damage, or unsafe conditions to management. Wear required personal protective equipment when applicable. Qualifications Previous warehouse, furniture, moving, delivery, or retail experience is preferred but not required. Ability to safely handle large, heavy, and oversized furniture. Strong work ethic and willingness to assist wherever needed. Dependable with regular and reliable attendance. Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks efficiently. Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
