About the Role The VMI Manager oversees all Vendor Managed Inventory operations and account management for a key client account out of our Charlotte, NC branch. This role directly manages our dedicated VMI staff, ensures optimal inventory levels, and acts as the primary contact for all customer sourcing needs. Beyond day-to-day operations, this role is crucial for actively managing, deepening, and growing the customer relationship by identifying new opportunities and providing exceptional end-to-end service. Key Responsibilities Account Management & Growth: Serve as the dedicated single point of contact, actively managing and growing the relationship with the customer. Partner with the client to understand their evolving business needs, conduct regular business reviews, and identify opportunities to expand our service footprint and product offerings. Team Management: Direct, manage, and train the VMI team servicing the account to guarantee smooth daily operations, high productivity, and top-tier service quality. Inventory Control & Optimization: Monitor, maintain, and audit customer inventory levels (min/max thresholds, bin stock replenishment, and cycle counts) to prevent stockouts and eliminate excess inventory. Non-VMI Product Sourcing & Quoting: Handle non-standard or ad-hoc product requests outside the core VMI list by sourcing electrical supplies and materials, obtaining supplier quotes, and presenting competitive pricing to the client. Order Fulfillment & Logistics: Process orders for both VMI replenishment and special non-VMI requests, tracking shipments from placement to delivery to ensure the customer always gets the products when they need them. Continuous Improvement: Streamline replenishment workflows, solve supply chain challenges proactively, and continuously look for ways to enhance overall customer satisfaction and account value. Qualifications Industry Experience: Prior experience working in the electrical industry (electrical distribution, manufacturing, or contracting) is highly preferred/required. Professional Background: 3+ years of experience in inventory management, VMI operations, or supply chain account management. Leadership: Proven supervisory or leadership experience overseeing operational teams and guiding employee performance. Technical & Sourcing Skills: Strong background in purchasing, quoting, vendor negotiations, and customer account administration. Systems Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems, inventory software, and barcode scanning technologies. Soft Skills: Excellent communication, relationship-building, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a customer-first mindset.
