Truck Driver Job Description: Top Duties and Qualifications A Truck Driver, or Transporter, is responsible for transporting goods from one location to another. Their job duties include loading their vehicles, abiding by traffic laws and ensuring safe unloading and delivery at their destination. Responsibilities : Obeying and following applicable traffic laws Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance Plan routes and meet delivery schedules Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts Input into our automated system for each stage of the loading and unloading process Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures Requirements: Our drivers will be operating a box truck up to 24 ft and a rack truck. Must be able to communicate in English, written and verbal. Motivated to work and good attitude. Clean Motor Vehicle Record (must be able to produce a clean driving abstract) Must have a valid DOT Medical / Physical Exam card No Moving Violations in the Past 3 years (required for insurance).
