Truck Driver Class A CDL

CDL Class A Driver Location: Allentown, PA Company: Balas Distributing Co. Position Summary Balas Distributing is seeking a dependable, safety-focused CDL Class A Driver to join our growing transportation team. This role is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of freight throughout regional service areas while maintaining excellent customer service and compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations. We’re looking for a professional driver who takes pride in equipment, communicates well, and understands that reliability and service matter. Key Responsibilities Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle (53’ dry van and/or other assigned equipment) in accordance with all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety standards Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and en route inspections; report maintenance issues promptly Deliver freight safely and on time to customer locations Maintain accurate trip documentation, ELD logs, DVIRs, BOLs, PODs, and any required paperwork Communicate effectively with dispatch regarding route progress, delays, issues, or delivery exceptions Secure freight properly and ensure cargo integrity throughout transport Follow appointment schedules and customer-specific delivery requirements Have experience and comfortability using technology for driver mobile apps, tracking apps (macropoint/trucker tools/Project 44) and ability to manage your ELD device independently. Maintain professional interactions with customers, shipping/receiving personnel, and internal teams Comply with hours-of-service regulations and company operating procedures Assist with trailer swaps, drop/hook operations, live unloads, or other transportation-related duties as needed Vehicle and equipment mechanical knowledge is preferred Qualifications Required Valid CDL Class A license Current DOT Medical Card Clean driving record / acceptable MVR Minimum 5 years verifiable CDL A driving experience Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background review Strong understanding of DOT/FMCSA safety regulations Ability to safely operate ELD systems and mobile communication tools Reliable attendance and strong time management Preferred Regional route experience Dry van / linehaul experience Experience with drop & hook operations Customer-facing delivery experience Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle Ability to climb in/out of tractor and trailer safely Ability to occasionally lift, move, or secure freight up - some deliveries require driver assist (additional compensation approved for specific customers and commodities) Ability to work in varying weather conditions What We Offer Competitive pay ($90,000 starting, $95,000 with Hazmat cert) - Salaried Consistent regional freight / predictable schedules (Typically Monday thru Friday work week, candidate is expected to be over-night on average 2-nights per week - occasional Saturday deliveries for backhaul or local deliveries with additional daily compensation provided) Well-maintained equipment Supportive dispatch and operations team Growth opportunities within a growing transportation division Health Insurance, 401k Match, PTO/Vacation time + more About Balas Distributing Balas Distributing is a trusted regional distribution and transportation company serving customers throughout the Northeast.
