This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and energetic team player to be a part of a state-of-the-art, fresh fruit company. Focus Our Osoyoos packing facility receives fruit (including cherries, stone fruit, pears, and apples) in bulk from Okanagan-based growers and sorts it for quality and size before packaging it for shipment to our domestic and international customers. Our warehouse provides storage for inventories of packaged product and packaging materials. Our third-party packing facilities in the South Okanagan receive packaging materials from our facilities to use in packing product for our customers. Safe and efficient movement of fruit and packaging materials are important parts of ensuring the quality of produce for our customers . Key Accountabilities: Safe and responsible operation of 5-ton, single axel truck to load, transport, and unload materials between our facilities and third-party packing facilities in the South Okanagan Safe and responsible operation of pallet jacks, propane and electric forklifts inside and outside of the facilities Ensure pre-shift equipment checklists are completed Accurate maintenance of shipping and receiving information, using software programs to log materials into and out of facilities May assist with accurate and timely physical inventory counting Report any quality, maintenance, and safety issues to Warehouse Team Lead and/or Supervisor and/or Facilities & Operations Manager Regular attendance Completion of other responsibilities as assigned Key Attributes and Skills Communication (verbal, written, listening) Basic mathematical skills Attention to Details Teamwork Adaptability Safety Awareness Quality Orientation Energy Collaboration Problem solving Initiative Mentoring/Teaching Recognize differences or similarities in packaging products Regular Attendance Education and Experience Minimum valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license or out-of-province equivalent is required Driver’s abstract with driving history satisfactory to the company is required Minimum 3 years’ experience operating a single axle 5-ton truck without air brakes is required Forklift certification is an asset Shipping and receiving experience is an asset Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn in-house software programs is an asset First Aid training is an asset Previous agriculture and/or packing facility experience is an asset Working Conditions Work is conducted indoors and outdoors at fruit packing plant environments and warehouse environments and can be subject to extreme temperature conditions. Plant operating hours are dependent on crop, production, and shipping needs, with extended hours and seven-day-a-week operations common through peak months (i.e., June through October). Position is seasonal, with limited days off and extended hours as necessary during peak months (i.e., June through October).
