Container Drayage & Trucking Operations Coordinator Savannah, Georgia Job Description We are seeking an experienced Container Drayage & Trucking Operations Coordinator with strong knowledge of container transportation through the Port of Savannah, GA , as well as experience coordinating 53' dry van transportation and freight brokerage services throughout the United States . The ideal candidate should have significant hands-on experience managing daily trucking operations, scheduling port appointments, coordinating drivers and carriers, and ensuring that import and export containers are picked up and delivered within the required deadlines. Our company handles a high volume of import containers arriving through the Port of Savannah , as well as export containers being delivered to the port . We also operate and coordinate 53' dry van transportation nationwide and work with outside carriers and brokers to cover freight across the U.S. Previous experience with Savannah drayage operations, freight brokerage, carrier coordination, and over-the-road transportation will be highly appreciated. Our office is located in the Savannah area, just a few minutes from the Georgia Ports Authority terminals . Main Responsibilities Coordinate import and export container trucking operations Schedule and manage terminal appointments for container pickup and delivery Coordinate drivers, trucks, container chassis, and outside carriers Monitor container availability, terminal status, and delivery schedules Coordinate pickup of full import containers from the Port of Savannah Coordinate delivery of full export containers to the port Monitor empty container returns when applicable Track vessel cutoffs, last free days, appointment windows, demurrage, and detention Coordinate 53' dry van transportation throughout the United States Source and communicate with carriers for nationwide trucking coverage Support freight brokerage operations , including carrier sourcing, rate negotiation, load coverage, and shipment follow-up Coordinate backhauls and identify available return loads whenever possible Negotiate trucking rates with carriers and owner-operators Communicate with customers, drivers, carriers, terminals, steamship lines, warehouses, and internal operations Track shipments from pickup through final delivery Resolve operational issues, delays, missed appointments, and carrier-related problems Maintain accurate shipment, container, and load status updates Ensure daily operations are completed efficiently and on schedule Requirements Strong previous experience with container drayage operations Experience working with the Port of Savannah / Georgia Ports Authority is highly preferred Knowledge of import and export container procedures Experience scheduling and managing port appointments Experience coordinating truck drivers and container deliveries Experience with 53' dry van transportation Knowledge of U.S. domestic trucking and interstate transportation Experience with freight brokerage and carrier sourcing is highly preferred Ability to negotiate rates with carriers and owner-operators Knowledge of load boards, trucking brokers, and carrier networks is a strong advantage Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple containers, trucks, loads, and deadlines simultaneously Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced logistics environment Strong attention to detail English proficiency required Knowledge of ocean freight, steamship line procedures, chassis operations, demurrage, detention, brokerage operations, dry van trucking, and carrier management will be considered a strong advantage. Work Schedule Monday through Friday 8 hours per day This is an office-based position in the Savannah, GA area . Compensation USD $25.00–$35.00 per hour , depending on experience and knowledge of container drayage, brokerage, and U.S. trucking operations.
