Transportation/Traffic Design Engineer

We are seeking a transportation/traffic engineer with 5-7 years of experience in transportation design to join our team. In this role, you will prepare engineering designs and supporting calculations primarily focused on traffic signals, ITS, and illumination , but may also include channelization, roundabouts, signage, bicycle lanes, and pedestrian safety improvements. As a part of the Transpo team, we will provide you with on-the-job training and a pathway to leading your own transportation design projects for public and private clients. While our home office is located in Kirkland, WA, we want to hear from motivated, solution-oriented engineers wherever they are. Candidates will be assessed for remote work based on experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Independently complete designs for new and modified traffic signals, ITS, and illumination/street lighting infrastructure Work collaboratively to come up with innovative solutions where necessary Create plans, specifications, and estimate (PS&E) packages with oversight from senior engineers Provide guidance and supervision to junior staff Read and understand the terminology and symbols used in engineering plans, topographic survey basemaps, field notes, and aerial photographs to interpret the information for use in designing transportation engineering solutions Transparent communication with project managers and teammates about design responsibilities, technical questions, workload, and deadlines to ensure project objectives are met Identify and seek out peers and project managers to assist with questions and developing technical and communication skills Be a self-starter, manage your own workload, and take initiative for the development of your own skill set and professional growth Demonstrate our company values of teamwork, ingenuity, cultivating relationships, and practicing empathy in your work and interactions with others Transpo Group is an award-winning planning and design firm specializing in multimodal transportation planning, traffic engineering and intelligent transportation systems. Required Qualifications: Minimum BSCE (Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering) Minimum Professional Engineer (PE) licensure 5-12 years of experience in the transportation industry developing designs for traffic-related disciplines, such as traffic signals, ITS, and illumination Proficiency in engineering drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation) Proficient in everyday technology tools such as Microsoft Teams, Word, and Excel Preferred Additional Qualifications: Proficiency in other transportation engineering related software (e.g., AGi32, Vehicle Tracking, GuideSIGN, etc.) Why Transpo?
