Transportation Dispatcher

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Transportation Dispatcher specializing in van operations, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant dispatching experience. This role involves coordinating and managing daily van transportation activities to ensure efficient, timely, and safe delivery of services. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record in dispatching within a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Oversee and coordinate daily van dispatch operations, ensuring optimal routing and scheduling for timely pickups and deliveries. Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and other stakeholders to relay instructions, updates, and resolve issues promptly. Monitor vehicle locations and statuses using GPS or other tracking systems to ensure adherence to schedules and safety protocols. Adjust routes dynamically in response to traffic conditions, delays, or unforeseen circumstances to maintain service reliability. Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver logs, and delivery confirmations for compliance and reporting purposes. Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure vehicles are properly serviced and operationally ready. Enforce safety policies and procedures to promote a safe working environment for drivers and staff. Provide training or guidance to new dispatch staff as needed, sharing expertise gained from extensive experience in van dispatching. Experience Minimum of 10 years of experience as a van dispatcher or in a similar transportation coordination role. Proven ability to manage multiple routes simultaneously while maintaining high levels of accuracy and efficiency. Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices within the logistics industry. Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle stressful situations professionally. Proficiency with dispatch software, GPS tracking systems, and other relevant technology tools. Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
