ConfidentialRole Overview Job Title: Transportation Aide / Resident Transport Driver Facility Type: Skilled Nursing Facility or Nursing Home Primary Goal: Provide doortodoor or roomtovehicle support, ensuring safe transit and compassionate care for elderly or disabled residents. Core Responsibilities Driving and Transit: Safely operate facility vans, minibuses, or wheelchairaccessible vehicles following all traffic laws and safety procedures. Resident Assistance: Help residents enter and exit vehicles, manage mobility aids like walkers or wheelchairs, and operate mechanical wheelchair lifts. Trip Coordination: Coordinate travel calendars, confirm appointment paperwork, and communicate schedules with nursing and administrative staff. Vehicle Maintenance: Perform basic pre and posttrip safety checks, keep vehicle interiors clean, and report necessary mechanical repairs. Resident Care & Safety: Monitor resident comfort and wellbeing during travel, protect privacy under HIPAA guidelines, and adhere to facility safety policies. Qualifications and Requirements Education: High school diploma or equivalent Certifications: Valid, unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record; many nursing home roles also require an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, push/pull or maneuver up to 100 lbs, and handle wheelchair weights and transfers safely. Soft Skills: Calm and patient demeanor, strong interpersonal communication, and a compassionate approach to working with older adults.
