Pestell Pet ProductsGeneral Accountability We are seeking a Training Supervisor responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective training programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and training manuals to support consistent employee onboarding, job competency, and ongoing skills development in a manufacturing environment. This role also provides supervisory coverage and operational support by overseeing production shifts in the absence of Production Supervisors. As shift coverage is an integral part of this position, flexibility and availability to work on day, afternoon, and night shifts are required. Responsibilities Training Development and Delivery Develop and maintain comprehensive training documents, manuals, and SOPS for all production-related tasks and equipment. Deliver hands-on and classroom-style training sessions to new hires and existing employees. Evaluate employee performance during and after training to ensure understanding and proper application of procedures. Update training materials regularly in accordance with process changes, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives. Maintain training records and track retraining needs. Other duties as assigned. Continuous Improvement Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify training gaps and propose solutions. Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and efficiency optimization projects. Production and Team Management Related Responsibilities Supervise production shifts in the absence of Shift Supervisors, ensuring that safety, quality, and productivity standards are met. 1. H&S related responsibilities Ensure all employees are working in a safe manner according to applicable occupational health and safety legislation, and company health and safety policies and procedures. Fulfil all supervisory responsibilities as outlined in the OHSA and company policy and procedures. 2. Meeting production goals Coordinate production start-ups, shutdowns and changeovers Meet or exceed OEE targets consistently Complete all required shift reports and other paperwork Ensure Maintenance work requests are filled out for scheduled equipment repairs Perform minor repairs to equipment during the production run Conduct Rail moves as required 3. Communication Conduct daily regular pre-shift meetings, and schedule and conduct tailgate meetings Communicate production progress and/or issues, etc. to the Plant Manager, Supply Chain Manager, and Maintenance Supervisor as needed Communicate on a regular basis with other departments including Purchasing, HR, Logistics, Warehouse, etc. Provide mentorship to the employees, including consistent feedback Supervision and development of shift staff Ensure proper job training is completed Ensure all employees follow company and departmental procedures Promote effective communication and respect amongst employees Assist in the hiring of new employees Develop and conduct performance reviews Discuss any performance and/or employee behavioral issues with the Plant Manager and HR Provide praise, recognition, coaching, and corrective behavior as the situation dictates Experience Requirements At least 3 years of previous manufacturing supervisory experience within semi-automated/automated manufacturing plant Proven experience developing and delivering training content and documentation. Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, equipment, and safety standards. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning internal training/document control systems.
