Tow Truck Driver

TOWKING LLC is looking for a dependable and safety-focused Tow Truck Driver to join our growing towing and roadside assistance company in the Lake Norman area. This is a W-2 employee position. Previous towing experience is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who already has strong experience safely driving and maneuvering larger commercial vehicles. PAY Typical effective earnings are expected to be approximately $19–$23 per hour based on expected call volume and completed work Pay structure: $12.00 per hour + 8.5% commission on qualifying towing and roadside revenue personally performed Higher earnings may be possible during busier periods Overtime paid in accordance with applicable law Actual earnings depend on hours worked, completed jobs, and revenue generated Drivers may keep 100% of voluntary cash tips received directly from customers RESPONSIBILITIES Safely operate rollback and wheel-lift tow trucks Respond to towing and roadside assistance calls Load, secure, transport, and unload customer vehicles without damage Operate towing equipment including winches, wheel-lift equipment, straps, skates, dollies, and related equipment as trained Handle vehicles that may have locked wheels, no keys, or may not shift into neutral Take required photos and complete digital job documentation Communicate professionally with customers and dispatch Perform required truck and equipment inspections Keep the assigned truck and equipment clean and ready for service Follow company safety procedures and traffic laws DRIVING REQUIREMENTS Must be comfortable safely driving and maneuvering a commercial tow truck approximately 28–30 feet long Must be confident backing into and out of tight areas, driveways, parking lots, and other limited-access locations Must be able to judge clearance, turning radius, and vehicle positioning to avoid damage to the truck, customer vehicles, or property QUALIFICATIONS Must be at least 23 years old due to insurance requirements Valid driver’s license Clean driving record Dependable and punctual Able to work independently and make safe decisions Professional and respectful with customers Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions Able to perform the physical duties associated with towing and roadside assistance Tow truck, rollback, or wheel-lift experience preferred, but not required Previous commercial truck, box truck, flatbed, delivery truck, trailer, or similar driving experience strongly preferred SCHEDULE Full-time Wednesday through Sunday Monday and Tuesday off Approximately 40–50 working hours per week General availability window: approximately 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM on scheduled workdays Between assignments, the driver is generally free to use the time for personal activities When a new call becomes available, the driver will be contacted regarding availability and expected response time COMPANY POLICIES TOWKING LLC has a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol, illegal drug use, impairment, and smoking or vaping in company vehicles Employees may not consume alcohol, use illegal drugs, report to work impaired, or operate a company vehicle while impaired Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside company vehicles at all times Smoking and vaping are also prohibited while assisting customers, performing service calls, loading or unloading vehicles, or working around customer property Applicants must be willing to follow these policies consistently as a condition of employment TOWKING LLC does not solicit or process customer tips through company card payments or invoices WORK AREA Lake Norman and surrounding areas, including Cornelius, Huntersville, Davidson, Mooresville, Denver, and nearby communities.
