The Temporary Logistics Analyst will contribute to a strategic initiative focused on evaluating and optimizing our inbound freight operations. Your primary objective will be to determine whether bringing the management of select inbound freight lanes in-house can generate meaningful cost savings and improve visibility across our supply chain. Reporting to the Director of Supply Planning, you will analyze freight lanes and rate structures, develop cost models, evaluate logistics systems, and work with internal and external partners to build recommendations from the ground up. Responsibilities Analyze inbound freight lanes across LTL, truckload, intermodal, and small-parcel transportation to identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities. Evaluate supplier-managed freight practices and determine the feasibility of transitioning select lanes to internally managed freight. Develop cost models comparing supplier-prepaid, collect, and alternative freight arrangements. Build lane-level visibility into freight costs, accessorial charges, fuel surcharges, rate structures, and seasonal variability. Assess Transportation Management Systems and freight-visibility platforms that may support future logistics operations. Partner with Supply Planning, Procurement, Distribution, Finance, suppliers, carriers, distributors, and third-party logistics providers to gather data and validate findings. Create reporting tools to measure lane performance, carrier performance, freight costs, and cost-to-serve. Identify freight companies and logistics partners that could support future transportation opportunities. Support pilot programs designed to test the value of managing inbound freight internally. Validate potential savings through freight audits, historical invoice reviews, rate comparisons, and industry benchmarking. Present findings, recommendations, and potential business impacts clearly to leadership. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in logistics, transportation planning, supply-chain analytics, supply planning, or a related field. Strong understanding of freight lanes, transportation modes, carrier terms, rate structures, and freight costs. Experience using Transportation Management Systems or freight-visibility platforms. Advanced Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial or operational modeling.
