We are looking for an experienced Logistics Coordinator - Load Planner to join our transportation team. This role is responsible for coordinating daily freight movements, planning and assigning loads, managing transportation lanes, and working closely with carriers, drivers, customers, and internal operations teams.
The ideal candidate has experience in LTL transportation, freight brokerage, load planning, carrier coordination, and transportation management systems (TMS). Strong knowledge of transportation routes, rates, service requirements, and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment are important for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate daily LTL shipments from pickup through delivery, ensuring freight moves efficiently and meets customer service requirements.
• Plan and consolidate loads based on shipment volume, destination, capacity, service requirements, and cost.
• Manage assigned transportation lanes, including carrier selection, lane coverage, rates, capacity, and service performance.
• Source and coordinate carriers for available loads, negotiate rates when required, and maintain strong relationships with transportation partners.
• Monitor shipments throughout the transportation process and proactively resolve delays, missed pickups, delivery issues, and other service exceptions.
• Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, Sales, and other internal teams to coordinate shipments and address operational issues.
• Maintain accurate shipment, carrier, rate, and delivery information in the TMS and ensure all required transportation documentation is completed.
• Monitor transportation costs and carrier performance, identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost savings, and provide relevant information to management.
• Provide timely shipment updates to customers and internal stakeholders while maintaining a high level of service and attention to detail.
Qualifications
• 2–4 years of experience in LTL transportation, logistics coordination, load planning, dispatch, or freight brokerage.
• Strong understanding of LTL freight operations, including pickups, deliveries, consolidation, carrier selection, and transportation lanes.
• Hands-on experience with TruckMate or a similar Transportation Management System (TMS); TruckMate experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience coordinating loads and selecting carriers based on lane, capacity, service requirements, and cost.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. transportation lanes and freight movement.
• Experience communicating and negotiating with carriers, drivers, terminals, and transportation partners.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments and changing priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced transportation environment.
Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
