Position Summary The Technical Inspection Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing all Automotive/Equipment Maintenance Inspection functions. This includes performing and leading a team that performs, initial, random, and final inspections on vehicles and equipment submitted for repair or services. The Supervisor ensures that all repairs do not exceed maintenance expenditure limits (MEL), solves problems by adapting substantive guides, and uses subject-matter knowledge to complete varied assignments. This role is responsible for monitoring supplies, preparing procurement documents, ensuring safety procedures are followed, and maintaining accurate records and reports. Essential Functions of the Position Plans and schedules for the work of the inspection department for maximum effective utilization of employees, equipment, and material within budgetary, cost, and quality standards. Supervises the performance of initial, random, and final inspections on a wide array of equipment, including heavy equipment, tactical and non-tactical vehicles, semi-tractors, material handling equipment (MHE), and ground support equipment. Ensures the team accurately estimates maintenance labor hours and parts/materials costs using TM MAC times, historical data, and other approved methods. Oversees data entry into the Logistics Information System (LIS) and updates estimated hours to complete maintenance actions. Manages the process for technical inspections on all equipment/vehicles for turn-in, serviceability checks, lateral transfers, or in-processing in accordance with Army regulations (AR 750-1, AR 725-50). Compiles historical data, prepares required reports, and develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions. Ensures the department maintains accurate records and access to technical manuals, regulations, and manufacturer’s instructions. Uses technical manuals, bulletins, and written directives to guide the performance of all inspections. Applies technical knowledge to oversee inspections on systems including, but not limited to, body, chassis, power train, suspension, automotive, armor, electrical, fire suppression, and hydraulics. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities · Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates inspection staff to further their skillsets. · Assign employees to jobs, instruct them in the proper performance of work, and familiarize them with company rules and regulations. · Maintains discipline and initiates appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with established rules. · Estimates manpower requirements, requisitions, and selects qualified candidates. · Works with other supervisors to complete tasks, when needed. · Ensure employees understand and comply with all company safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Physical Demands Required to walk, stand, sit, and move about the property for long periods of time. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required to perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping to handle materials. Work Environment Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible. Noise level can range from minimal to intense. PPE will be worn in designated areas as required. Minimum Qualifications Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have at least five years of experience in the inspection of military or civilian equipment/vehicles. Must have a minimum of two years of supervisory experience or equivalent in military installation logistics support services or three years of civilian shop supervisory experience. Excellent understanding of the mechanical equipment and theory of operation of cranes, tactical vehicles, electrical systems, generators, and other heavy equipment.
