AvientThe Manager of Supply Chain Planning has broad responsibilities for assisting the Business Unit and Director of Sales and Operations Planning in developing and ensuring effective execution of the processes within the business unit supply chains. The overall span of responsibilities involves: This position’s responsibilities are to act as a lead across all supply chain processes, specifically: vendor management, capacity and production, logistics and schedule data integrity. In addition, managing inventory levels and capacity to meet customer service levels and working capital targets for the business is critical. This position is an integral part of the business unit’s ability to deliver on its service and execution component of their value proposition. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The overall span of responsibilities involves: Global Supply Chain Strategy – Inventory Management, Capacity Management, Sourcing. Achieving Business Unit objectives – KPI’s. Tactical raw material purchasing and inventory management. Finished goods material from order entry through conversion for all customers. Delivery performance to the customers globally. Under general direction, ensure that production schedules are current and sequenced for maximum productivity and to fulfill customer delivery requirements. Oversee materials and inventories for assigned facilities. Check production activity to provide a controlled flow of materials timed to meet production requirements. Regularly monitor and address Non-Working, Slow-Moving (NWSM) inventory. Resolution may involve: redeployment to another location, re-labeling to a co-spec, obtaining technical approval to consume, vendor return, modifying procurement strategy, etc. Evaluate/incorporate/generate ideas for new SAP technology to improve overall business unit operations (i.e. forecasting, reorder point, needed reports/capabilities, etc.). Works with management to organize schedule changes due to backlogs, design changes, and material/labor shortages. Maintain production scheduling and record keeping in SAP. Coordinate with suppliers to have raw material available for scheduled production. Resolve raw material shipment discrepancies/issues. Communicate and coordinate with suppliers, Avient business unit planning, logistics and warehouse operations. May assist with evaluating production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, tool and manpower requirements. Other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, operations, logistics, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of experience in supply chain, production planning, materials management, or manufacturing operations preferred, including leadership experience. Strong experience with production planning, scheduling, capacity planning, inventory management, and material requirements planning (MRP). Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar manufacturing planning systems. Demonstrated ability to balance customer demand, production capacity, inventory levels, and material availability. Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, lead times, constraints, and end-to-end supply chain processes. Experience managing inventory levels and driving improvements in inventory accuracy, service levels, and working capital. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret demand, inventory, capacity, and production data. Ability to lead and develop planning or supply chain teams while establishing clear priorities and accountability. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to partner with operations, procurement, customer service, sales, logistics, and finance. Experience with continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean manufacturing, S&OP, or similar planning processes, preferred.
