Role: Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) RESRG Automotive The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring supplier quality performance from sourcing through production. The SQE works closely with cross-functional teams (CFT) and suppliers to ensure all quality requirements are met, risks are mitigated, and supplier-related issues are resolved proactively. The role supports program launches, PPAP approvals, supplier audits, and ongoing supplier performance management to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: Participate in Technical Review meetings with suppliers and cross-functional teams prior to awarding new parts or issuing purchase orders. Support suppliers and internal teams from award through PPAP approval, ensuring progress and readiness. Lead PPAP process with suppliers, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with quality requirements; issue PSW approvals. Manage supplier ECRs by reviewing documentation, creating requests in system, tracking approvals, and communicating changes effectively. Coordinate and execute supplier audits including qualification, periodic, new technology, and corrective action audits in accordance with automotive standards. Monitor SCARs and follow up with plant teams and suppliers to ensure progress and timely resolution. Lead quarterly supplier quality review meetings with operations and key stakeholders to address escalated quality issues. Maintain and monitor supplier certifications (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA) ensuring validity and proper documentation. Key Expectations: Proactively identify and communicate supplier risks, ensuring all issues impacting timing or compliance are resolved. Remain actively engaged throughout program development, anticipating issues and supporting successful launches. Ensure PPAP approvals are completed on time; escalate issues and drive closure of open actions when needed. Ensure ECRs are fully understood, properly approved, and implemented without risk to supply or quality. Conduct thorough supplier audits, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and provide clear recommendations to internal teams. Act as a liaison between plant and suppliers, driving root cause analysis and resolution of complex quality issues. Facilitate supplier performance discussions and ensure timely closure of action items. Maintain up-to-date supplier certifications and escalate risks related to expired or missing certifications. Ensure full compliance with customer reporting requirements, including documentation and issue resolution. Role is based in Troy, MI. Travel up to 75% of time. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, or related field. 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, or Automotive industry. Experience with PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, and root cause methodologies. Preferred Qualifications: IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA knowledge and audit experience. Experience with Intelex or similar quality management systems. Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
