Job Description AECOM’s Greater Pennsylvania Area Bridge (GPA) Engineering Practice is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer with a passion for bridge design. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established and very successful bridge design group that offers a diverse range of projects, technical challenges, and career development opportunities. Our GPA Bridge Engineering Practice works on projects for our local clients, as well as mega-projects throughout North America. These projects are delivered across many clients via various delivery methods. The GPA Bridge Engineering Practice has offices in Philadelphia, PA, Conshohocken, PA, Mechanicsburg, PA, Pittsburgh, PA, and Morgantown, WV. This Structural Engineer role is a hybrid role, working a minimum of 2 days from one of these AECOM offices and the remaining days remotely each week. As populations grow, so do demands for safe, expedient and cost-effective transportation. Our Greater Pennsylvania Area Bridge Engineering Practice partners with our clients to build, modernize and expand transportation projects that carry all our communities into the future — safely and reliably. We use our extensive knowledge in planning, designing and managing transportation systems — as well as restoring and replacing aging infrastructure — to help our public and private clients find smarter, more advanced ways to move people across cities, countries and continents. The responsibilities of the Structural Engineer position include, but are not limited to: Conceptual, preliminary and detailed final design of new bridges and other transportation structures; Analysis and rehabilitation design of existing bridges; Use of computer software for the analysis and design of bridges and other structures; Preparation and/or quality review checking of technical reports, design calculations, and structural plans; Preparation and/or quality review checking of technical specifications and construction cost estimates; Working both independently and with groups of engineers, designers and/or specialists toward the development of structural design documents and contract deliverables; Following of QA/QC procedures to ensure the technical quality of deliverables, and assisting with responses to client’s comments on structural design elements of the deliverables. Training, mentoring and helping to develop junior structural engineering staff; and Structural-related project task management.
