Store Clerk Cashier
Free Style MercantileWe are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Store Clerk to join our retail team. We are a small mom & pop convenience store offering take out food, baked goods, local products and groceries. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing sales transactions, and maintaining the organization of store merchandise. This role offers an opportunity to develop retail skills in a dynamic environment, supporting daily store operations and ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers. Bilingual abilities and prior supervisory experience are considered valuable assets. Duties Operate POS systems and cash registers accurately during retail sales transactions Handle cash handling duties including cash drawer management and basic math calculations Provide exceptional customer service through friendly communication and professional phone etiquette Assist customers with product inquiries, and upselling Stock shelves, organize merchandise, and ensure proper merchandising standards are maintained Assist with ordering and updating POS system with new and existing inventory Perform retail math calculations for sales, discounts, and inventory management Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor and stockroom Assisting in kitchen as needed Qualifications Previous experience with POS systems, cashiering, or retail sales is preferred Supervising experience is a plus but not required; leadership skills are valued Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising, and inventory stocking procedures Ability to handle cash register operations accurately and responsibly Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor Basic math skills necessary for retail transactions and inventory management Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as stocking shelves or moving merchandise as needed
