Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Sterile Processing Technician, where your expertise ensures the safety and well-being of patients through meticulous sterilization and handling of surgical instruments. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing, sterilizing, and maintaining surgical equipment to the highest standards of infection prevention. Duties Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments and medical devices using approved methods and equipment. Manage inventory levels of sterile supplies, ensuring accurate tracking and timely replenishment to support clinical operations. Maintain detailed documentation of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking logs, and quality assurance records in compliance with regulatory standards. Adhere to infection prevention protocols by applying aseptic techniques during all stages of processing and handling sterile items. Conduct routine quality checks on sterilized instruments, identify defects or contamination risks, and escalate issues promptly. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure proper handling of surgical instruments, understanding anatomy knowledge for accurate reprocessing procedures. Skills Expertise in sterile processing medical instrument assembly, packaging, and sterilization techniques. Strong inventory management skills to track supplies accurately and prevent shortages or overstocking. Knowledge of physiology and anatomy to facilitate proper instrument handling and reprocessing procedures. Proficiency in medical terminology related to surgical procedures and instrumentation. Experience with medical equipment operation including sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners and related tools. Deep understanding of infection prevention management practices within healthcare settings. Ability to apply aseptic techniques consistently while maintaining high standards of infection control. Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control regulations to ensure compliance with industry standards. Education: Required: Certified SPD technician and/or completion of an accrediated online training program, technical or hospital - based sterile processing course. Mandatory: high school diploma or equivalent Experience: Mandatory: minimum of 1 yr in hospital or ASC sterile processing department This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to uphold the highest standards of patient safety through expert sterile processing practices.
