Staff Mechanical Engineer
GTI FabricationGTI is a contract manufacturing partner supporting customers in renewable energy, power generation, infrastructure, and industrial systems. We fabricate custom designed, purpose-built enclosures and skids for our customers and perform mechanical and electrical integration in-house, delivering a true turn-key product to our customers. Our scope spans Engineering, prototype builds, through full production, requiring teams that can move fast, adapt, and execute with precision. GTI Values: Safety I Quality I Customer Obsession I Speed I Agility Position Overview GTI is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to provide senior technical leadership across complex modular power and industrial systems. This role will serve as a technical authority for mechanical system design, structural and thermal analysis, equipment integration, and troubleshooting while supporting projects from concept through manufacturing, testing, and production. The ideal candidate brings extensive hands-on experience designing industrial equipment, generator enclosures, fabricated steel structures, equipment skids, and modular systems, along with strong engineering calculation capabilities and the ability to mentor engineers and solve complex cross-functional technical problems. Key Responsibilities Mechanical System Design & Technical Leadership Lead mechanical system architecture and design for complex modular power and industrial systems. Develop and review mechanical designs for generator enclosures, structural frames, equipment skids, sheet metal assemblies, weldments, and integrated mechanical systems. Design and integrate generators, cooling systems, fuel systems, piping, exhaust systems, and associated mechanical equipment. Perform and review engineering calculations involving structural loads, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue, thermal performance, and fluid systems. Perform and validate finite element analysis (FEA) on structural frames, welded assemblies, lifting structures, and equipment supports. Establish technical direction and provide guidance on complex or first-of-kind mechanical designs. Lead design reviews and resolve high-level technical issues across multiple projects. Structural, Thermal & Mechanical Integration Evaluate structural designs for operational, lifting, transportation, wind, seismic, and other applicable loading conditions. Develop mechanical layouts supporting equipment integration, service access, thermal management, and manufacturability. Support cooling system design, airflow analysis, heat rejection, and thermal management for generator systems, BESS, and modular infrastructure. Collaborate with Electrical and Structural Engineering teams on equipment interfaces, system requirements, and integration challenges. Support mechanical testing, design validation, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations. Provide technical support to manufacturing, integration, field service, and customers. Manufacturing & Product Development Ensure mechanical designs are manufacturable, serviceable, safe, and aligned with customer requirements. Work closely with Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Operations. Support prototype builds, production launches, design changes, and continuous product improvement. Develop and maintain production-ready mechanical drawings, engineering calculations, BOMs, specifications, and design documentation. Provide technical guidance on fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and mechanical integration. Resolve complex manufacturing and product performance issues through engineering analysis and practical design solutions. Mentorship & Engineering Excellence Mentor Senior and Mechanical Engineers and provide technical review of engineering work. Help establish mechanical engineering standards, calculation methods, design guidelines, documentation practices, and validation methodologies. Serve as a technical resource for complex cu…
