TeslaWhat to Expect Tesla is accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy, and we are seeking a seasoned senior commodity leader to own North America sourcing and supplier strategy for Full Truckload (FTL) transportation. As Sr. Global Supply Manager, you will set the multi-year category vision, lead the largest and most complex truckload bid events in the region across dry van, flatbed, temperature-controlled, and drayage, and act as the executive-facing commodity owner for Tesla's North American factories (Fremont, Austin, Reno, Buffalo) and service network across the US, Canada, and Mexico. You will own a carrier base spanning asset-based fleets, dedicated providers, and brokerage partners, balancing committed capacity against spot exposure to protect both cost and service. Expect to defend your awards with a clear basis: what is contracted, what is exposed to the spot market, and what happens to cost and service when volume or the production plan moves. You will mentor junior buyers and analysts, influence senior stakeholders across Manufacturing, Finance, and Logistics Operations, and shape the truckload backbone of the world's leading EV manufacturer. This role is based in Fremont, CA, Austin, TX, or Reno, NV, with approximately 25-35% travel across the US, Canada, and Mexico. What You'll Do Category Leadership – FTL (NA): Define and execute Tesla's multi-year North America Full Truckload category strategy across dry van, flatbed, temperature-controlled, and intermodal-adjacent drayage, including should-cost models, supplier segmentation, and consolidation roadmaps across US, Canada, and Mexico operations Capacity Strategy & Network Coverage : Build contracted-versus-spot coverage for inbound and inter-facility truckload lanes across Fremont, Austin, Reno, Buffalo, and the GDC/RDC service network, securing committed capacity and dedicated fleet solutions on high-volume, high-variability lanes Complex FTL Sourcing & Bid Management : Lead RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs across US domestic, intra-Canada, intra-Mexico, and cross-border truckload programs, building lane-level rate matrices and awarding lanes on total landed cost and service performance Cross-Border Execution & Contracting : Own US-Mexico and US-Canada truckload flows in coordination with Trade & Customs (IMMEX, C-TPAT, FAST, CARM), and lead negotiation of NDAs, SOWs, Master Transportation Agreements, and dedicated fleet agreements Cost Optimization & Risk Mitigation : Deliver multi-million-dollar annual savings through bid rotations, mode conversions, backhaul programs, trailer-fill improvements, and reduction of expedited/spot freight while building a resilient, multi-sourced supply base Supplier Performance Management & Market Expertise : Set KPI frameworks, lead executive business reviews, own escalations and corrective action plans, and track NA truckload capacity cycles, fuel trends, and regulatory shifts to keep Tesla's network ahead of the market Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with senior leaders across Plant Logistics, Material Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Finance, and Trade & Customs; represent the commodity in S&OP and new-plant launch forums while serving as category SME and escalation point for the team What You'll Bring Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience. 8–12+ years in NA transportation sourcing and carrier management at an OEM, automotive, or large-scale manufacturer, with a track record of independently owning multi-million-dollar truckload categories end-to-end Leadership: Proven ability to influence Director/VP stakeholders, lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority, and present to executive leadership; prior people-leadership experience (direct or matrixed) preferred Truckload Pricing & Equipment: Expert-level knowledge of NA truckload pricing mechanics (linehaul, fuel surcharge, accessorials, detention, dedicated fleet cost buil…
