Specialized Transportation Driver

About Mom Making Moves Mom Making Moves LLC provides individualized, sensory-aware transportation and support services for children and individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, and other unique support needs throughout Greater Houston. We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and safety-focused Specialized Transportation Driver who understands that transporting individuals with unique needs requires more than simply driving. Our drivers are expected to demonstrate professionalism, patience, sound judgment, reliability, and an unwavering commitment to passenger safety. Schedule Variable part-time hours based on assigned transportation routes and client needs. Morning, afternoon, and other scheduled assignments may be available, with opportunities for additional hours as services expand. Key Responsibilities Safely transport assigned clients to and from schools, therapy programs, appointments, and other authorized destinations using a company-provided vehicle. Follow individualized transportation and support plans, including instructions related to communication, sensory sensitivities, behavioral considerations, and safety needs. Assist passengers with safe boarding, exiting, and transitions as appropriate. Ensure proper use of seatbelts, child passenger restraints, and approved safety equipment. Follow authorized pickup and drop-off procedures, including verifying the identity of individuals receiving passengers. Monitor passenger safety and recognize potential concerns, including elopement risks and sensory distress. Never leave a child or dependent passenger unattended in the vehicle. Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and passenger safety checks. Maintain accurate transportation records and communicate promptly regarding delays, emergencies, or incidents. Communicate professionally with families, guardians, schools, and authorized care personnel. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and protect client confidentiality. Follow all company safety, safeguarding, emergency response, and incident-reporting procedures. Minimum Qualifications Valid driver's license and a minimum of three years of verifiable licensed driving experience. Acceptable driving history and eligibility to operate company-owned vehicles under the company's commercial auto insurance policy. At least two years of verifiable professional experience in caregiving, disability support, specialized transportation, special education support, or a closely related field. Professional experience working with children or individuals who require additional supervision or individualized support. Ability to provide at least two verifiable professional references. Strong communication, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills. Dependability, professionalism, patience, and sound judgment. Ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. Willingness to complete all required employment screenings, onboarding, safety training, and practical driving evaluations. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children with autism, developmental disabilities, or other unique support needs. Previous employment with a school, therapy center, special education program, disability services organization, or professional care provider. Relevant education, certifications, or coursework in caregiving, child development, education, behavioral support, or a related field. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Training or experience in sensory-aware support, behavioral de-escalation, trauma-informed care, and safe passenger transitions. Required Screening & Training Employment is contingent upon successful completion of applicable screening and eligibility requirements, which may include: Criminal background screening and applicable sex-offender registry checks.
