Shop / Yard hand

Job Summary The Shop / Yard Hand supports daily warehouse and yard operations by preparing orders, handling materials, and keeping work areas organized and safe. This hands-on role is suited to someone who is dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable with physical work. Warehouse, construction, or equipment experience is helpful; training may be provided for site-specific procedures. Duties Pick and prepare customer orders, verify items, and stage materials for dispatch. Assist with shipping and receiving, including checking deliveries and organizing incoming stock. Load and unload materials using safe manual-handling practices and appropriate equipment. Operate forklifts, order pickers, clamp trucks, cranes, or other heavy equipment when trained and authorized. Move, sort, and store materials throughout the shop and yard; help maintain accurate inventory records in a warehouse management system. Keep the warehouse, yard, and equipment clean, orderly, and free of hazards. Follow workplace safety procedures, use required protective equipment, and report damaged goods or unsafe conditions. Assist with general shop and yard tasks as needed, including basic equipment checks and material preparation. Skills Warehouse distribution, warehouse experience, and familiarity with shipping and receiving processes. Order picking skills and experience using an order picker. Familiarity with warehouse management systems and inventory procedures. Mechanical knowledge and the ability to recognize basic equipment or material issues. Experience operating a forklift, crane, clamp truck, or other heavy equipment is an asset; required equipment must be operated only with appropriate training and authorization. Ability to perform heavy lifting and safely load and unload materials. Construction experience or familiarity with building materials is an advantage. Dependable, organized, safety-minded, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 per week Work Location: In person
