Vadnais Steel LtdJob Summary We are seeking a skilled, leadership-minded and experienced Shop Foreman/Woman to lead our workshop team to oversee our daily workshop operations, lead our fabrication team, and keep our production running at peak efficiency. Responsibilities Supervise, schedule and assign daily duties to a team of custom steel fabricators and apprentices. Manage timelines, monitor project progress, and optimize floor layouts to meet daily deliveries, pick ups, shipments and production deadlines. Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and improve production efficiency. Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. you will be a skilled welder/fitter/fabricator, with the knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses repair and maintenance, knowledge of design techniques principles involved in production of precision technical plans. Read and interpret technical schematics to determine project requirements and specifications. assemble components using welding techniques while maintaining structural integrity. Oversee the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and heavy lifting gear to execute fabrication accurately and safely. Maintain a clean, hazard-free workshop environment and strictly enforce all local safety regulations including workplace safety laws. Oversee tool maintenance, track shop inventory, and coordinate the procurement of necessary parts and materials. Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and equipment history to support operational efficiency and compliance. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in steel fabrication, experienced welder/fitter/fabricator, experience with MIG and TIG with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Prior experince in a supervisory, team lead or foreman/woman. Mechanical knowledge across multiple systems including electrical systems, hydraulics, power tools usage, welding techniques, and schematics interpretation. High school dipoma or equivalent; relevant Trade Certification or Journeyperson ticket is a strong asset. Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities with shop machinery, diagnostic tools, and specialty equipment. Excellent verbal and written communication, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of handling high-pressure situations.
