Position Overview The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the shipping team and ensuring outbound orders are completed safely, accurately and on time. This role provides hands-on leadership within a fast-paced shipping environment, coordinating labour, workflow and order priorities while working closely with other departments to resolve issues and maintain efficient product movement. The successful candidate will be a confident people leader who can balance operational demands, employee development and customer requirements. Responsibilities Lead, coach and develop shipping employees to meet expectations related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity and employee engagement. Plan and distribute daily workload to ensure outbound orders are completed accurately and on schedule. Verify outgoing shipments against manifests, invoices, customer orders and other shipping documentation. Monitor product availability and shipping priorities to identify opportunities to release orders earlier and prevent delays. Coordinate staffing and shift coverage based on workload, production requirements and operational needs. Monitor employee performance and provide coaching, training, feedback and corrective action when required. Conduct employee performance reviews and evaluations. Work closely with internal departments and external partners to resolve shortages, damages, shipping discrepancies and other non-conformances. Investigate operational issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Identify opportunities to improve shipping processes, productivity and workflow and provide recommendations to management. Support the consistent application of company policies, procedures and established shipping processes. Maintain accurate shipment records including weights, charges, space availability, damages and discrepancies. Promote strong communication and collaboration within the shipping team and across departments. Provide hands-on coverage for shipping and clerical functions when required, including pick tickets, Bills of Lading, ship screen and Transportation Management System activities. Lead by example and support a safe, respectful and productive work environment. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Minimum 3 years of related experience within shipping, distribution, warehousing or produce operations. Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop and hold employees accountable. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to changing operational requirements. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and making decisions with limited supervision. Must be available to respond to operational matters outside regular working hours when required.
