Schulze & Burch Biscuit CoJob Overview Supervisory Responsibility: Direct supervision of Shipping/Receiving Clerks, Forklift Operators, and Warehouse Personnel (~25 employees across 3 shifts). Job Summary The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor oversees daily warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping and receiving processes, and staff management across two buildings. This position ensures accurate receiving of raw materials and bulk items, timely outbound shipments of finished goods, strict adherence to sanitation and food safety standards, and active safety compliance. Candidates must have the flexibility to work Saturdays and extended shifts as required by production schedules, sanitation routines, and operational needs. Key Responsibilities & Essential Duties 1. Team Leadership & Personnel Management Shift Supervision: Lead and supervise shipping, receiving, and warehouse personnel across all three shifts. Staffing & Scheduling: Assess daily manpower needs, adjust shift schedules, manage call-offs, line coverage, and overtime allocation. Verify and input employee timecard hours. Daily Communications: Conduct daily shift-start and shift-end meetings (including Quality, Cost, Delivery / QCD meetings) to align priorities, address issues, and discuss logistics updates. Training & Certification: Coordinate and conduct operator certifications and safety training for forklifts, walkie stackers, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and sky lifts. 2. Shipping & Inbound Receiving Operations Inbound Receiving: Verify incoming shipments of bulk dry and liquid ingredients, packaging supplies, pallets, and general materials. Ensure proper receipts and documentation are completed. Outbound Shipping: Oversee loading of finished goods onto outgoing trailers. Verify outbound Bills of Lading (BOLs), animal feed BOLs, and transfer documentation (IBTs). Assist with shipping documentation/BOLs in the clerk's absence. Carrier & Dock Coordination: Coordinate trailer placement, dock well operations, and spotter movements. Communicate daily pickup schedules and anticipated shipment counts with carriers, logistics managers, and dispatch. Quality & Inbound Inspection: Partner with Quality Assurance (QA) to ensure all incoming materials (e.g., film, ingredients) pass inspection prior to being moved into production areas. 3. Inventory Control & Warehouse Management Cycle Counts & Inventory Audits: Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts on packaging items, cases, cartons, film, and finished goods upon request. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. QA Hold & Scrap Management: Oversee the QA Hold area/cage. Coordinate the segregation of hold items, release of approved products back into circulation, and proper disposal/documentation (including Letters of Destruction) for scrap materials. Supply & Space Management: Monitor warehouse floor space and ensure adequate operational supplies (e.g., work gloves, pallets) are maintained. 4. Facility Sanitation, Safety & Maintenance Sanitation Management: Maintain and audit sanitation schedules across all warehouse areas (Building 1, Building 2, shipping docks, dock wells, and bulk room sifters). Safety & Compliance: Conduct daily safety inspections, complete weekly General Department Self-Inspection Checklists, and record Weekly Safety Observation Reports. Participate in monthly Safety Committee meetings. Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Perform and record daily forklift and temperature inspections. Facilitate maintenance and work order repairs for forklifts, walkie stackers, sky jacks, line conveyors, and trash compactors. Coordinate garbage trailer loading and transport between facilities. Qualifications & Requirements Experience: Proven experience in warehouse, shipping, receiving, or logistics supervision (preferably within a food production or CPG environment).
