Overview Shipping & Receiving Clerk — Processing Division Texas Iron & Steel is seeking a detail-oriented, organized Shipping & Receiving Clerk to support our processing division. This position coordinates receiving, warehouse transfers, finished goods transfers, and outbound shipment documentation while keeping material records accurate and current. The role works closely with the Job Scheduler, Operations, processing warehouse personnel, Sales, and Purchasing to ensure material is accounted for, available when jobs are scheduled, and properly routed when processing is complete. Key Responsibilities Prepare and distribute receiving paperwork for inbound steel, purchased material, and warehouse transfers. Receive and record material transferred from our distribution facility, verifying item descriptions, quantities, and associated job information. Communicate shortages, discrepancies, damage, or missing documentation to the appropriate personnel. Work with the Job Scheduler to coordinate where material should be staged or stored based on scheduled production dates and job requirements. Track material availability and communicate receiving or transfer delays that could affect the production schedule. Coordinate with warehouse personnel on the movement of material into processing and the disposition of completed jobs. Prepare and process transfer documentation for finished processed goods moving between facilities. Coordinate staging and shipping documentation for completed orders, verifying quantities and order information before release. Maintain accurate records of receipts, warehouse transfers, finished goods, and outbound shipments in company systems and tracking spreadsheets. Communicate material status and shipment readiness to the Job Scheduler, Operations, Sales, and other appropriate personnel. Collect, organize, and maintain paperwork so material movements can be traced from receipt through processing and final shipment. Required Skills & Qualifications Working knowledge of shipping, receiving, and warehouse transfer procedures. Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced processing environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Solid math skills and the ability to verify quantities, dimensions, and material information accurately. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PDF software. Ability to learn and use company inventory and order-processing systems. Ability to work closely with production scheduling, warehouse, and office personnel. Preferred Experience Experience in a steel service center, manufacturing, fabrication, or processing environment. Familiarity with steel products, material identification, and production paperwork. Experience tracking inventory movements and coordinating material availability with production schedules.
