Shipping Quality Inspector - Job Description Position Summary The Shipping Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring all products shipped from the facility meet company quality, food safety, and customer requirements. This role performs detailed inspections of pallets, packaging, trailers, and shipping activities while monitoring product and trailer movement throughout the shipping process. Duties · Inspect incoming and outgoing pallet condition, stability, cleanliness, and that they meet customer’s expectations and suitability for shipment. Photograph and report any deviations to Shipping Supervisor. · Verify loaded pallets to ensure wrapping is secure, box stacking meets customer’s expectations, labels are visible, boxes are taped securely, and no crush or damage pallets. · Identify crushed, damaged, wet, or compromised boxes and packaging – inform shipping supervisor of any discrepancies. · Verify SKU, quantity, lot codes, pallet identification, and product condition against receiving, transfer, production, and shipping documentation. · Inspect trailers for cleanliness, odours, damage, moisture, and food safety compliance. Record trailer temperature. Notify shipping supervisor of any discrepancies. · Photograph all four sides of each finished-goods skid prior to loading and shipment release. · Maintain photographic records and put in shared drive according to order, transfer, receipt, transfer, shipment, customer order, or claim documentation. · Track trailer arrivals and departures. · Lock and unlock shipping doors according to procedures. · Inspect docks for cleanliness, condition, safety, and operational readiness. · Verify SKU, quantity, lot codes, pallet identification, and product condition against receiving, transfer, production, and shipping documentation. · Verify final loading counts, shipping documentation, trailer numbers, carrier information, and seal numbers prior to shipment release. · Maintain inspection records, receiving logs, pallet control records, trailer inspection records, sanitation records, and other required system and manual data entries. · Verify trailer seals upon arrival and departure and document any discrepancies. · Verify load securement, pallet stability, trailer condition, and shipment readiness prior to trailer release. · Support customer, carrier, supplier, QA, transportation, and internal claim investigations by providing photographs, inspection records, shipment status, pallet history, transfer records, and supporting documentation. · Immediately escalate food safety, quality, inventory, pallet, trailer, security, compliance, or product integrity concerns to Shipping Supervisor and QA Supervisor/Manager. · Monitor shipping area for cleanliness and notify shipping supervisor as required. · Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications · Two years experience in shipping, warehousing, logistics, or food manufacturing preferred. · Knowledge of Food Safety and willingness to learn customer requirements. · Able to work under pressure and adapt to change. · Ability to work independently, raise quality concerns, and be accountable for the quality of product/skids/wrapping shipped between locations and to customers. · Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. · Strong organizational and communication skills. · Basic computer proficiency.
